An increasing trend in recent years has been for scifi romance authors to write holiday-themed stories to release at this time of the year. I’ve gathered a few new ones for you to consider!
A Klaus Encounter: A SciFi Alien Warrior Holiday Romance (Horned Holidays) by Honey Phillips asks if an alien and a human woman can give a bereaved child a family. This author frequently writes heartwarming family-themed SFR stories and readers rate them highly. The Female Main Character here is trying to take care of her orphaned nephew when she finds the alien crashed and injured in the snow. As for the Main Male Character, “…his only goal is survival. But when he wakes up in a primitive cellar, tended to by a fierce, captivating female, his priorities begin to shift. Her compassion is irrational, her living situation is unacceptable, and the unexpected attraction between them is completely outside his experience. Logic dictates he should escape, but a new, protective instinct demands he stay.” Of course there are complications and dangers to be faced but the Happy Ever After holiday ending is assured. In Holly and the Hunter: A Post-Apocalyptic Alien Romance (Xarc’n Warriors) by Lynnea Lee, the FMC was busy getting ready for the holidays when raiders came to attack the village and stole everything connected to the holiday. The rest of the villagers are occupied cleaning up after the raid and she’s left to recreate her holiday preparations with only one grumpy alien warrior to help. She’s determined to make him understand the holiday spirit and of course love blossoms while they work together. Readers like the spice and the grumpy/sunshine trope. AmazonKU
Speaking of tropes, the ‘fake date’ is front and center in Merry and Bright: A Callisto Christmas: A Christmas Alien Fake-dating Rom Com by J J Hynd . The FMC is going home to Earth for the holidays and her family expects to meet the man she’s been dating. Only of course there isn’t one so she persuades an alien to come along as her fake date. Readers loved the cozy vibes of the story and the humor as the alien attempts to understand the Earth holiday customs. And of course there’s an HEA for the couple, when the romance stops being fake and becomes real. AmazonKU
Author Julie K. Cohen can be counted on to deliver a sparkling holiday SFR every year and the 2025 entry is Unwrapped by the Alien: Sci Fi Alien Christmas Romance (Holiday Heartmates Book 1). I loved the premise that the FMC had all the toys and gifts for the annual charity drive wrapped and ready, only to walk in on an alien undoing all her hard work. He’s searching for a load of stolen blasters and thinks the weapons are hidden in her stash of gifts. She puts him to work as Santa Claus and as the two make the holiday bright for those in need, of course their attraction to each other blossoms into romance. Readers like the holiday vibe and the spice between the two main characters. AmazonKU
The Tinsel and Tentacle series, with multiple authors spinning LGBTQ holiday tales in various genres, has had several scifi romances, including Tied in Tentacles (Tinsel and Tentacles 3.0) by Megs Pritchard where an alien who has been marooned on Earth for a long time meets a human man who just wanted to get away from it all and spend the holidays in a quiet cabin. Sparks and romance ensue. There was also It Came Upon a Midnight Tentacle by Kelex, where an alien prince who fell upon hard times after his family was deposed from their throne meets a human during the holidays and is instantly attracted. The couple comes together for an HEA despite the fact the alien is a tentacled alien shifter. Series Page
Adeline’s Abrauxian Santa Claws: Book Seven of the Abrauxian Brides Series by Lisa Clute gives us another FMC determined to create Christmas on her remote planet but then events overtake all her plans. The all important shipment of Christmas toys and items from Earth is delayed. In this story the FMC and MMC are already married and her husband is called upon to deal with 300 gremlins and their giant ‘bone stags’ who crash land on the planet, all of whom he relocates to a safer spot. Turns out the gremlins can make toys…I think readers can see where the plot is going from here and may rest assured the Christmas holiday will be merry and bright. AmazonKU AB
Jorek’s Christmas: A Cyborg for Christmas Book 4 by Christine Myers and Clarissa Lake takes place in a post apocalyptic time frame. The cyborg in question believes he’s too damaged by his experiences in the war to be a suitable mate for anyone. Then a desperate call comes from a single mother with a sick child and the MMC can’t resist going to help. They become snowed in and discover they were meant for each other, ensuring a happy holiday for all, including the now recovered child. AmazonKU
Not a romance but fun science fiction holiday tales come in Now I Have a Raygun, Ho-Ho-Ho!: Sci-Fi Holiday Stories with Recipes! (CROOKED Book 4 ) by ten authors. As the blurb states: “From toy thieves to red-nosed drones in the air ducts to winter carnival heists, this book will stuff your stocking with mischief and misadventure. Best of all, every story comes with a recipe so you can eat like the holiday hero you are.” Readers enjoyed the light hearted approach to holidays with a scifi spin. Amazon
Naughty List Delivery: A Steamy Scifi Romance (You’ve Got Alien Mail Book 4) by Lara Roth takes an FMC who formerly led a life of interstellar crime but who now is reformed and delivers Christmas packages. She’d faked her own death a few years earlier but now her alien ex finds her and wants his pirate queen of the stars back. At first he refuses to believe she isn’t smuggling weapons but eventually the holiday spirit helps them resolve their considerable issues and achieve the HEA. AmazonKU
Happy Holidays full of time to read!

ALIENS IN MY STOCKINGS by A A Fairview
VS Note: Lesbian SFR.
Home for the holidays, Temperance would rather be anywhere else in the world– or off it. Alien abduction is a dream come true. Her alien captors, Chyme and Ivx, should follow protocol and release the Earthling – Except Chyme is absolutely sure this woman needs their help. Why else would she be so calm about her abduction? Ivx prefers to follow the rules that Chyme loves to break, but as they travel the stars it’s clear the duo is better as a trio. There’s one big problem: Temperance travel onboard the ship breaks intergalactic law. Once they reach their destination, it’ll take a Christmas Miracle to keep them all together. Amazon
HUNTING FOR THE HOLIDAYS (HUMAN PETS OF TALIN – ORIGINS BOOK FIVE) by RK Munin
No one should have to pick between money and love. Han has worked as a bounty hunter for years. Her small stature is actually a benefit because her targets always underestimate her. Clever, fast, and skilled, she’s never failed to collect a bounty yet. When she accepts a bounty for a Talin, all she sees is enough credits to pay for her community for an entire year! If she’s fast she might even make it back to celebrate the holidays with her family. What she doesn’t expect is for her target to be kind and concerned. Her normal tactics don’t work because all he wants to do is to keep her safe instead of take advantage of her “vulnerability.” Now she’s faced with a tough choice: handing this Talin over to his government or bringing him home to meet her family.
