Privacy Policy

My Privacy Policy

I, Veronica Scott am committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of my online visitors. User privacy is a very important topic to me. Please read the following to learn more about my Privacy Policy.

WordPress.com

I maintain a blog on the wordpress.com site. I do not have a web page. WordPress controls what data is collected from visitors to the site, including cookies. As a user of their blog service, I have no control over the data and any issues, including requests for deletion of personal data must be submitted to them.

I can remove comments on my blog posts and will be happy to do that upon request.

This site uses Akismet to control spam. Click here to learn more about how comment data is processed.

Information Gathered

When you register to become a subscriber to the Veronica Scott newsletter, I am collecting information from you in the form of an e mail address. This information is necessary to communicate with you, to fulfill your request to receive news and updates about my books. I may also mention special book or ebook sales events, attendance at a signing or other book-related information. Some of my blog pages and posts may also offer comment forums or a giveaway opportunity, with subsequent request for your email in order to fulfill the terms of the giveaway. Please be advised that information posted in these venues becomes public knowledge. (I usually ask that you supply me with your e mail for a giveaway in a private e mail message to just me, not everyone who saw the post.)

I use MailChimp to send out my newsletters. They have detailed instructions for authors such as myself on how to remove individuals from subscriber databases and I will comply promptly with any such requests I may receive. Or a subscriber may simply click ‘unsubscribe’ on my newsletter. For questions regarding how MailChimp is GDPR-compliant and safeguards data, see their website.

As stated above, I don’t gather any other information from visitors to my blog. WordPress.com controls any and all data collection and issues regarding data will have to be taken up with them, as the host of my blog.

Information Sharing

I will not sell, rent, or share your personally identifiable information with others, unless I have your permission or am required to do so by law. I will not share aggregate data with any other parties.

Use of Contractors

I may retain the service of outside contractors to perform services on my behalf (for example, to help provide technical support services or send out my newsletters). At times, I must disclose relevant personally identifiable information such as e mail addresses, about you to my contractors so they may provide these specific services for me. I require our contractors to keep this information confidential and to only use the information on my behalf.

Cookies

Cookies may be used on my site by WordPress.com to manage the blog system. I have no insight into this activity, no access to any data collected by them for cookies. Issues regarding data privacy would have to be taken up with WordPress.com itself.

Links to Third Party Web Sites

My service may contain links to other blogs, websites and software. I am not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these websites or software. Please visit the privacy policies of these third party sites in order to understand their privacy and information collection practices.

I am an Amazon Associate and an iBooks affiliate and will include my ‘associate code’ in most, if not all links from my blog to Amazon or iBooks. Again, I don’t collect any information from this activity but the third party platform may. You would need to visit their privacy policy sites to see what information, if any, they collect on clicks.

Children’s Privacy
My blog doesn’t address anyone under the age of 13. I don’t knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. In the case I discover that a child under 13 has provided me with personal information, I immediately delete this. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided me with personal information, please contact me so that I will be able to do necessary actions.

I may amend this policy occasionally. It is your responsibility to check this page for any notices of change.
