VS Note: Not a romance…this one seems so weird! I read the Look Inside sample and have to admit it’s so mysterious, it kind of grabbed me. Put it on my TBR List. Seems to be more scifi than anything else, genre-wise, with horror maybe?
A woman wakes up, frightened and alone. The room shaking and jumping like it’s alive. The noise is terrifying. Where is she? Stumbling through a door, she realizes she is on a train carriage. A carriage full of the dead. A personal hell unfolding in an apocalyptic future. This is NIGHT TRAIN. VS Note: Just read this last week. It’s going to be a Netflix-George Clooney movie in December. Really good scifi. Had an excellent twist. Not a romance although there’s a faint whiff of a romantic element (not with the character Clooney is playing). From 2016 but I wanted to share because I thought it was excellent. Warning: Not everyone gets a happy ending. And yes, at the old day job I did know scientists like this astronomer (in terms of his dedication to the science despite everything). Not many but some!
Augustine, a brilliant, aging astronomer, is consumed by the stars. For years he has lived in remote outposts, studying the sky for evidence of how the universe began. VS: From my own backlist, an old favorite of mine ESCAPE FROM ZULAIRE. I’d always wanted to write a story about a woman suddenly plunged into danger, behind enemy lines, unsure who to trust….I think Andi is the heroine of mine people have had the most trouble finding likable, which wasn’t my intent at all.
