So many new releases this week – wow! I clicked and clicked…
As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL).
OCEAN LIGHT (PSY CHANGELING TRINITY) by Nalini Singh
VS Note: Nalini is an absolute must buy for me, this book was on my kindle on the 12th and I put everything else aside to read it!
Security specialist Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. But there’s a ticking time bomb in his head: a chip implanted to block telepathic interference that could fail at any moment–taking his brain along with it. With no time to waste, he should be back on land helping the Human Alliance. Instead, he’s at the bottom of the ocean, consumed with an enigmatic changeling…
Kaia Luna may have traded in science for being a chef, but she won’t hide the facts of Bo’s condition from him or herself. She’s suffered too much loss in her life to fall prey to the dangerous charm of a human who is a dead man walking. And she carries a devastating secret Bo could never imagine…
But when Kaia is taken by those who mean her deadly harm, all bets are off. Bo will do anything to get her back–even if it means striking a devil’s bargain and giving up his mind to the enemy.
DARK FIRE (REFUGE BOOK 4) by Cynthia Sax
VS note: Cynthia is another auto buy for me and this book is also on my kindle! I love her Refuge series.
What the Beast wants, the Beast gets.
Dare’s savage nature has made him an outcast among his kind. The silver-scaled Dracheon warrior can’t control his inner beast. It’s too strong. When his primitive instincts told him his destined mate was on Carinae E, he had no choice. He had to travel to the outlaw planet. There, he hoped to meet a female powerful enough to survive his Drache.
He finds Faylee, a delicate little human.
Faylee is the best thief on the planet. Everyone she encounters mistakes her for a young boy…except for a tall, shiny warrior from off-planet. When she gazes into Dare’s flame-filled eyes, he makes her feel, for the first time, like a desirable female. The fire-breathing male has her yearning for hot kisses, fierce embraces, and a future filled with love. She doesn’t realize mating with him might be the last thing she ever does.
Dare’s beast isn’t the only danger on the planet. An enemy from the past has returned and he’s determined to stop Dare and Faylee…permanently. They’ll need luck and the assistance of every warrior in the Refuge to stay alive.
BREAKAWAY (VERDANT STRONG BOOK 1) by Michelle Diener
VS note: And another of my autobuy authors with a new book this week!
Sofie lives in the shadow of Felicitos–the tethered way station built to funnel Garmen’s mineral wealth to the top of the atmosphere, where it’s loaded onto space ships. Because Garmen is a breakaway planet, not part of the Verdant String Coalition, the companies that control it are free to run things as they see fit, and Sofie is part of the resistance that wants to end their rule.
Her main goal, though, is to get away from Garmen altogether, and leave the drudgery and violence behind her. That goal is complicated by her involvement with Leo Gaudier, a shadowy crime lord whose ability to cheat the companies that own Garmen is something she admires. And when she stumbles on a terrible new direction the companies are taking, a secret alliance that will endanger everyone she cares about, she sees her chances of escape slipping away.
Leo is all too aware he doesn’t know enough about Sofie, something his own security detail is not slow to point out, but he can’t keep away. When Sofie reveals her links to the resistance, and shows him those in control of Garmen have begun swimming in dangerous waters, he realizes his plan to overthrown them in a careful operation of a thousand cuts is no longer workable.
The time has come for a single, lethal strike–and that will not be without consequences.
NOT FADE AWAY: INTERSTELLAR RESCUE SERIES BOOK 4 by Donna S Frelick
VS Note: Lovely to see her return to the series. On my TBR.
Rescue agent Rafe Gordon is human, though Earth has never been his home. But when his legendary father Del becomes the target of alien assassins, Rafe must hide the dementia-debilitated hero in the small mountain town where the old man was born—Masey, North Carolina, USA, Earth.
Home care nurse Charlie McIntyre and her therapy dog, Happy, have never had such challenging clients before. Del’s otherworldly “episodes” are not explained by his diagnosis, making Charlie question everything about her mysterious charge and his dangerously attractive son. Rafe has the answers she needs, but Charlie will have to break through his wall of secrets to get them.
As the heat rises between Charlie and Rafe, the deadly alien hunters circle closer. The light they seek to extinguish flickers in the gloom of Del’s fading mind—the memory of a planet-killer that threatens to enslave the galaxy.
ALIEN CAPTURED (ZYRGIN WARRIORS BOOK 5) by Marie Dry
VS Note: On my TBR list, which is now HUGE!
In a bleak future, where government systems are breaking down and poverty and violence reign, on an abandoned farm in Montana, Susannah had a simple plan. She’d capture an alien, sell him to the resistance, and use the money to save her son.
Instead, Susannah had an arrogant alien trapped in a pit who acted as if she was the prisoner. He wanted to kill her dog and insisted she should care for the wound he sustained when he fell into the pit she dug to trap him. On top of that, she had no way to know if the resistance got her message. Every day that passed, she doubted her decision to hand Azagor over to the resistance.
But her son, her baby, was being held by people who considered him unclean because he was conceived out of wedlock—and time was running out.
ANTIGEN (LOVE AND WAR BOOK 2) by R A Steffan
VS Note: I LOVED the first book in the series, ANTIDOTE, so of course I one clicked this book.
Ryder isn’t a stupid woman, and she knows better than to volunteer for things. Volunteering always gets you into trouble. So it’s really no surprise when her undercover operation to retrieve Temple Akenzua from the belly of a Regime prison goes tits-up in fairly short order.
With Ryder stuck on the wrong side of the bars, the rescue mission has now become a mission of survival. Her only hope—and Temple’s—lies with her comrades in the Shadow Wing. Ryder just needs to stay alive until they come up with a plan.
Of course, that would be quite a bit easier if her former bondmate wasn’t dead-set on seeing her, well… dead. And, as a Regime official, he has the clout to make sure she disappears without a trace.
When all hell breaks loose, the human Ryder was supposed to rescue suddenly becomes her only ally as they fight to protect each other and make it to freedom.
FORBITTEN by Linda Mooney
Not all who are bitten are turned.
After World War III, better known as the Nuclear War, survivors were forced to move underground, where they had a better chance of survival. Those who were caught above ground in the aftermath inevitably died of exposure. However, the animals and vegetation were not so lucky. Although most species survived, they also mutated. And sometimes those mutations reached the remaining human population.
Shaddoe March lives in one of those subterranean bunkers, called SubForty. Her life is nowhere idyllic. No one’s is. But she’s healthy, and that means she has a future. Until, one day, her nightmare becomes reality, and she’s infected.
She is thrown out of the bunker, above ground, unarmed and alone to face the hideous creatures and other Condemned who’ve been discarded to face their inevitable deaths. As she prepares herself for the worst, she finds redemption.
Chyler Comstock was also infected, but he didn’t turn, and he’s not dead. Yet. Neither are the thirty-two other souls who’ve banded together for the sake of survival. When he meets Shaddoe, he’s more than willing to let her join their group, but not until the critical thirty-seven-hour window is passed. If she remains human after that, then she’ll be welcomed.
But, for now, it’s a waiting game, and the world ran out of patience decades ago.
SKYE BYRN by Drew Avera
VS note: No romance apparently but a strong heroine.
Doing a favor for her mentor Sammy P., Skye Byrn runs in one of the usual suspects on Ter, a small time Crunkhead named Trudy, another one of Sammy’s works in progress. Then a crime lord’s bomb rocks the station and Skye’s world will never be whole again.
Determined to find the bomber and put an end to their takeover attempt—and their existence, Skye enlists an unlikely ally, Trudy. As the station descends into madness, she finds herself in the fight of her life. If she fails to stop the takeover, she’ll be just another victim in their growing body count.
Skye brings the heat and there’s no price she won’t pay for vengeance.
MATERFAMILIAS (THE SPACE MERCHANTS BOOK 7) by Wendie Nordgren
The peaceful reprieve for which Teagan and the Empire have fought ends before it begins. Fear, suspicion, and distrust carry with them dire consequences of universal magnitude as the Parvac Empire and Galaxic Government prepare for war. Soon, everyone will learn the true power of the Materfamilias Caste.
UNIT 77 BROKEN (THE CYBRG FILES BOOK 1) by Mina Carter and Evangeline Anderson

THE CHILD THIEF by Bella Forrest
VS note: I don’t see any mention of a romance in the blurb, but the book is listed in SFR so…
America in 2105 is beset with mass inequality, poverty and increasingly large numbers of the poor. A fractured and divided America ushers in an authoritarian government that promises to solve all these problems in one stroke with a radical solution.
Welcome to the CRAS: the Child Redistribution Adoption System. Also known as the cure for America’s failing economy… and the bane of nineteen-year-old Robin Sylvone’s existence.

And as a single teen mother, Robin fell within the scope of the scheme and lost her baby two years ago.
After being forced to drop out of school and become a factory worker in order to support herself, she doesn’t see much light in her future—or hold any hope of seeing her child again.

PRISONER OF THE CROWN by Jeffe Kennedy
VS Note: This book is associated with Jeffe’s Uncharted Realms series and takes place in the same world but she was quite emphatic that this book is not a romance at all and deals with some dark topics. I really enjoy Jeffe’s fantasy romance series – there’s even a minor character named for me in one book! – so I thought I’d list this related title despite it not being a romance. It’s definitely on my TBR list.
In icy Dasnaria, rival realm to the Twelve Kingdoms, a woman’s role is to give pleasure, produce heirs, and question nothing. But a plot to overthrow the emperor depends on the fate of his eldest daughter. And the treachery at its heart will change more than one carefully limited life . . .
THE GILDED CAGE
Princess Jenna has been raised in supreme luxury—and ignorance. Within the sweet-scented, golden confines of the palace seraglio, she’s never seen the sun, or a man, or even learned her numbers. But she’s been schooled enough in the paths to a woman’s power. When her betrothal is announced, she’s ready to begin the machinations that her mother promises will take Jenna from ornament to queen.
But the man named as Jenna’s husband is no innocent to be cozened or prince to charm. He’s a monster in human form, and the horrors of life under his thumb are clear within moments of her wedding vows. If Jenna is to live, she must somehow break free—and for one born to a soft prison, the way to cold, hard freedom will be a dangerous path indeed.
VS Note: I’ve been giving all my attention to my Badari Warriors series of late, but have you read my Alien Empath series? The books are standalone but related, and set in my Sectors scifi romance universe. Star Cruise: Stowaway (which first appeared in the Pets In Space 1 anthology) is the novella that was written first (with two other non empath SFR short stories included in the book). Then Danger, followed by Two, and finally Fated. The three full length novels have a somewhat higher heat level than the novella. (I’m generally kind of a 3 on a 5 level scale of hotness, I’d say.)
All 4 books available at all the major ebook sellers!

My standard Notes and Caveats:
The term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months.
