I have a ‘new’ book this week! The re-release of my STAR CRUISE TIME LOOP novella…
As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL).
‘AB’ denotes audiobook and the Amazon buy link.
As a child, I was stolen by the lord of my planet’s invaders. He brought me to the chamber, where he held others he’d also taken. Through the years, me and my new brothers were twisted into hardened beasts, each with a unique ability that shouldn’t exist outside of myth. We’re monsters. Any female who gazes upon us will run. Now we’ve been entered into the Galaxy Games. Each landscape contains a series of deadly pitfalls, shifting goalposts, and an elusive final destination. It’s my chance to break free. But I’m paired with a delectable Earth female who makes me see color for the very first time, proving she’s my fated mate. I’ll finish this Game. I’ll free my brothers. And I’ll claim the Earthling female as my prize. Amazon KU
VS Note: I always wanted to write a Groundhog Day style story because I love them and here it is!
Raelyn Cantorini, senior stewardess on the interstellar cruise ship Nebula Zephyr thinks the alien artifact she bought on the last planet the ship visited was just a pretty glass orb…until her pet Eyn knocked the ornament off a table, shattering it and sending her into an infinitely repeating time loop. Stuck reliving the same day over and over, Raelyn has only hours to try to save the ship and everyone on board from dying in a terrible catastrophe. As she tries to solve the mystery of what happens to the ship right before midnight each time the day repeats, Raelyn meets Kev Stevens, the former Special Forces soldier turned actor and finds herself falling in love with him. Each time the day repeats, she learns more about him while he has no memory of her. Can she persuade him they’ve met before? Will he trust her enough to help stop the Nebula Zephyr’s destruction? And if they do save the ship, will that reset time for Raelyn? This is a lightly edited rerelease of my novella from the Pets in Space 6 anthology. No new material has been added.

But this future is different, and everything we do only makes things worse. More lives are lost, or never born at all. I left New Omni and struck out into the Dead Fall in search of a place where I could feel content, hoping the growing restlessness driving me would finally come to an end once I found my “nest.” I felt so certain that my destiny lay somewhere out in the ruins, now that the path to my father’s homeworld was gone. I was so sure I would find a nest that I could feed and protect as a proper Fayi male should. But the new nest I found didn’t bring me fulfillment, nor peace. I realized too late that I had already found my home—in the arms of my best friend Valerie, the human woman I had abducted from her own dimension after mistaking her for my brother’s mate. Only, Valerie had grown tired of my philandering ways and would not risk her heart on a male who couldn’t settle down and commit only to her. She’d put an end to our “friendship with benefits” relationship—and broke my heart in the process. It was my fault she’d rejected me, because I had not offered what she needed most. When I returned to New Omni after realizing that what I needed most was her, I discovered that she had already chosen a mate—my own brother, Sherakeren. Was it too late to convince her that she was the only woman for me? Even if I could, would my big bro accept me into their nest? This book is part of a three-book story with the same heroine. Each book will focus on a different hero who will become one of her mates, while advancing the story and the growth of her “nest.” She will have all three mates by the end of the three books. These books are best read in order, starting with “Sherakeren’s First Date.” This book is the follow up, with “Friak’s Spark” as the third.
It’s been nearly seven thousand days since the world ended. Seven thousand days of devastation, seven thousand days of shifting wastelands and dangerous creatures, seven thousand days of a vicious fight for survival. Humanity has long gone silent, except for two voices. Lota’s broadcast has served as the sole beacon in this time of darkness for years now, and she reports on everything from daily events to her own deepest fears in the hopes of connecting with another person. But these hopes begin to dwindle as time goes on, and it becomes increasingly evident that solitary survival under these conditions is unlikely at best. Rachel, meanwhile, lives on her own in the empty shell of her family’s former home and place of work, a laboratory across the ocean, doing anything she can to get by. But when a mysterious disease ravages Rachel’s crops and the ghosts of her past come back to haunt her, it becomes increasingly evident that she needs to leave. She has nowhere to go, however, until one night, the impossible happens: she uncovers Lota’s broadcast. Then it becomes a race for them to beat the odds—to cross an ocean and hundreds of miles of radioactive land, outrun superhuman mutations and monsters of every kind, not to mention braving the elements—and for two of the last people on earth to find each other. Science fiction often focuses on future technology and science without considering the ways social structures will change as tech changes — or not. What will relationships look like in a complicated future of clones, uploaded intelligences, artificial brains, or body augmentation? What stories emerge when we acknowledge possibilities of new genders and ways of thinking about them? The Reinvented Heart presents stories that complicate sex and gender by showing how shifting technology may affect social attitudes and practices, stories that include relationships with communities and social groups, stories that reinvent traditional romance tropes and recast them for the 21st century, and above all, stories that experiment, astonish, and entertain.
VS Note: Not a romance but a scifi release of note.
Head peace officer Anya Savelova believed her people, living on a hostile planet in the ice-bound city of Novayarkha, were the last of humanity. Until the day she learned they weren’t. When a starship from an Earth thought long dead appears in orbit over her world, Anya imagines an explosion of possible futures, offering her people the freedom to transcend the limiting environment of the planet they’d thought was their last refuge. In the starship’s crew, Anya finds creativity, diversity, innovation–all things the colony has had to inhibit to survive. Seeing her world through the eyes of the starship crew makes Anya look closer at her city’s inconsistencies, oddities she’s always been told to ignore. But the harder she pushes at the pieces that don’t fit, the more her government perceives the strangers as a threat. There are secrets in Novayarkha, hiding in plain sight, that the strangers can’t possibly understand–and Anya’s drive to uncover them risks shredding the fragile web holding together everything she’s ever known and loved.
He’s going to sell me to aliens. But not really. It’s complicated…Zed saved me from being eaten, so he’s got that going for him. On the other hand he’s an alien, a big green one, and after he’s inspected me quite intimately and spanked me until I know who’s boss he’s planning to auction me off for whatever shameful use some lucky buyer has in mind for a blushing and apparently suitable-for-breeding human female. At least he’s going to steal me back after he sells me, even if it’s just so he can sell me again. Plus he’s huge. You know, in the “That can’t possibly fit!” kind of way. Which can be good or bad I guess, depending on how you feel about being sore every morning. Also we’re now stuck in a time loop, so he’ll be doing all of this over and over and over again. Like I said, it’s complicated.
It was supposed to be a delivery run… How did it turn into a prison break? All Mercy had to do was deliver her cargo and go. Now she’s got a bunch of irate aliens on her tail and a hot-as-Helios escaped prisoner in her cargo bay who insists she is his. She’s too old for this crap, and she keeps telling herself she’s too old for him, too. But his arguments and his… assets are very convincing. If they’re going to survive this intergalactic crisis, she’s going to need a plan… and her hot, horned, and handsome alien passenger is going to need some clothes. **Buckle up. This sci-fi romance contains an alien with fur, fangs, horns, and a very possessive attitude when it comes to the woman he’s claimed for his own. Note from the Publisher: Marked For Rage is a standalone prequel to the Crashed And Claimed series.
I should be disgusted by Murdok. I should hate him with every fiber of my being. But I love him.
I should loathe this beast. He’s an orc. And I’m a human assassin who specializes in killing these beasts. There is no finer assassin than me. And with Murdok I thought I had the ultimate target.
He’s known for his brutality. He uses human women for bed sport before sending them to the mines.
My job was simple. Pretend to be one of those that wants to warm his bed. Then when his guard was down…kill him. Well, that’s what was supposed to happen. Instead, I’ve witnessed firsthand how wrong I was. He saved my life. I’ve seen how he protects the humans who joined his clan and pledged fealty. He’s been good, kind, and fair. He’s supposed to be my target. My enemy. But everything in my body is screaming the exact opposite. He’s becoming my beloved. Amazon KU
He’s come for me. The alien barbarian who wants to claim my heart and my child as his. One minute I’m juggling my teaching job with single mom life. But how’s that possible when I don’t remember the first time he abducted me ten years ago? Tharin doesn’t care that I don’t remember though. He doesn’t care I don’t believe he fathered my child either. All he cares about is maintaining his line by having more children with me, no matter the cost. I willingly submitted to him once, he says, so surely I can again. But how can this gorgeous, tortured alien expect me to commit to a future with him when I can’t remember what drove us apart in the past? Amazon KU

VS Note: I can’t say enough about this author’s World of the Other. Love it. Had this book pre-ordered and will stop everything to read it. The stories in this series can get quite grim at times but ovcerall the world is simply enthralling and endlessly fascinating. I’ve been re-reading all her previous books set in this world to be ready for this one!

AURA’s offices have been quiet since the mage tower incident—as quiet as they can be for an agency dedicated to policing holes in reality—and the department heads have been free to turn their attention back to mundane matters. The return to quiet bureaucracy gives AURA’s Director of Research, Kai Hiltas, the time to turn his energy to a new issue—a young drow with unusual and dangerous powers named Ryld. Though his shadows always lurk at the edges of his vision, Ryld does his best to live peacefully and not let them hurt anyone. He has his work, his apartment and a succession of minders assigned by AURA who are, ostensibly, there to keep him safe in his new world and to prevent him from causing any scenes with his shadows. Most of the time, the arrangement works. But one disastrous incident causes Ryld’s minder to leave him unattended and lost—the precise thing he was hired to prevent. To replace the faithless minder, Kai suggests Hank, a half-goblin accountant recently in the middle of a string of terrible luck, while Kai works out how best to get Ryld the magical training he so desperately needs. For his part, Hank truly likes Ryld and insists he would be happier working as Ryld’s companion rather than as a controlling minder. As Hank and Ryld slowly come to terms with sharing space—and eventually more—Kai’s search for a teacher for Ryld takes them out west on the invitation of the Elvenhome’s aelfe queen and right into the lap of inter-elven feuds, ancient prejudice, conspiracies and trafficking rings. Everyone knows of the horses of Iceland, wild, and small, and free, but few have heard their story. Sarah Tolmie’s All the Horses of Iceland weaves their mystical origin into a saga for the modern age. Filled with the magic and darkened whispers of a people on the cusp of major cultural change, All the Horses of Iceland tells the tale of a Norse trader, his travels through Central Asia, and the ghostly magic that followed him home to the land of fire, stone, and ice. His search for riches will take him from Helmgard, through Khazaria, to the steppes of Mongolia, where he will barter for horses and return with much, much more. Amazon Apple Books Kobo

VS: For my backlist feature this week I’m doing STAR CRUISE MAROONED, which was my first STAR CRUISE title and tells the story of how Red and Meg met, before they joined the Nebula Zephyr (on which the other STAR CRUISES are set). This is one of my besy selling scifi romance novels ever…I think the stunning cover from Fiona Jayde certainly contributes to the book’s success.
Meg Antille works long hours on the charter cruise ship Far Horizon so she can send credits home to her family. Working hard to earn a promotion to a better post (and better pay), Meg has no time for romance.
Former Special Forces soldier Red Thomsill only took the berth on the Far Horizon in hopes of getting to know Meg better, but so far she’s kept him at a polite distance. A scheduled stopover on the idyllic beach of a nature preserve planet may be his last chance to impress the girl.
But when one of the passengers is attacked by a wild animal it becomes clear that conditions on the lushly forested Dantaralon aren’t as advertised – the ranger station is deserted, the defensive perimeter is down…and then the Far Horizon’s shuttle abruptly leaves without any of them.
Marooned on the dangerous outback world, romance is the least of their concerns, and yet Meg and Red cannot help being drawn to each other once they see how well they work together. But can they survive long enough to see their romance through? Or will the wild alien planet defeat them, ending their romance and their lives before anything can really begin?
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
