The Lady of the Star Wind is an epic portal fantasy, which will be released after Star Cruise: Outbreak, in the early May 2016 time frame.
Sandy and Mark have been transported to an unknown world. This snippet is from quite a bit further in the novel, after they’ve left the mysterious mountain oasis, in the company of some new friends… Sandy, who picked up an odd stone key in the Oasis, was bitten by a snake named Sherabti, went into the green light with a woman unknown to her and now is sitting in a room she’s never seen before, with four women who seem to think Sandy is someone else…the Lady of the Star Wind…A new player, Haatrin, entered the chamber and scolded the Moon Sisters, after which an even more senior goddess, Nuet, arrived to scold them ALL and sent the Moon Sisters fleeing. Nuet is speaking:
“This is not my concern, not my battle. Don’t entreat me to be involved.” The vehemence in her voice was powerful. “I’ve fought the chaos and the darkness here in my time, vanquished the evil I faced, and moved beyond to greater purpose.”
Haatrin inclined her head. “Understood. I’d no intention of reaching out to you. The Moon Sisters are young and heedless, as everyone knows. My comrades among the Elder Gods and I are well seasoned, ready to carry the battle to the enemy ourselves.”
“None may summon me from my refuge again,” Nuet said, “especially not those ridiculous children – I won’t be merciful if there’s a re-occurrence of this unwarranted situation. “
USA Today Happily Ever After hosted the cover reveal for Star Cruise: Outbreak this past week. The book went live on Amazon today – a week early! Buy link: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Cruise-Outbreak-Sectors-Romance-ebook/dp/B01E1VPVXO/?tag=verscoblo-20
Waiting for her to tell those kids to get off her lawn while she’s at it…hee hee. Fun snippet.
Meanwhile, poor Sandy is hearing all this and wondering what the #$%@ she’s gotten herself into.
There is certainly discord between Haatrin and Nuet, and poor Sandy, as Ed pointed out, has no idea what she’s gotten involved with.
Intense scene between these two. I agree with Ed. Sandy has to be wondering–in a nervous k8ind of way.
Nobody seems very happy with the event. Can’t they just put her back where she comes from and be done with it?
I love the sense of outrage Nuet expresses – the annoyance of the aged at the foolishness of youth!
Peter’s got it. Not even one more chance before she explodes her power on their stupidity. Beautiful cover and oh, the story! Sandy and Mark-what a couple! Hugs.
I love Nuet’s voice, a nice blend of parental scorn laced with malice.
It makes me wonder if Nuet will appear later.
She is a tough sister, that Nuet. I wouldn’t want to cross her myself. The Moon Sisters had better beware!
I really like Nuet. I love how she doesn’t let anyone push her around.
Oh, boy. Better leave her alone. Great snippet, Veronica. 🙂
She sounds like me when my kids interrupt my writing! 😉 Great snippet as always.
Sounds like she means business! Loved that snippet, and the cover is fantastic!
Uh oh, I think I know that tone, when my dad used that one us kids shut up and behaved, LOL! I love the worldbuilding in these excerpts.

When the gods can’t get their act together, you know you’re in serious trouble. Love how you’re giving us the bigger picture through their arguments.
Yes, Nuet can be a bit grumpy! I really enjoyed writing this book and thank you, everyone, for all the feedback and comments. One more excerpt to go from this scene, until I release the book in May. Then we’ll come back to LADY for a few more words…have to start sharing from STAR CRUISE: OUTBREAK since it’s now available (surprise surprise). The first excerpt from it will be April 24th.
Happy release Day. Fabulous cover.
Love the outrage in her voice. If I was Sandy I’d be quaking in my boots.
Tweeted.
I love your cover for Outbreak! Wonderful! And a great snippet! Glad Nuet is merciful, but where does that leave Sandy? Anxious for more. 🙂
Awesome power play, Veronica.
Love Nuet’s voice- she just oozes ancient authority. Congrats on the new release!
I hope someone tells the Moon Sisters what she said. (Actually, I’d love to see Nuet tell them herself!)
You got the title perfect on this post – powerful and scary words – I won’t be merciful. Tweeted.
Whoops! Sounds like they woke her from her afternoon nap. I get cranky like that too 🙂
Happy release! You always write such strong female characters, Veronica. Really enjoyed this excerpt! 🙂
Thanks, I do my very best to make the heroines strong people!
Oh boy, I’ll bet she wouldn’t be merciful indeed!! Congrats on the cover real feature–that’s huge!
Nuet certainly seems a bit grumpy and probably with good cause. Lovely snippet as usual.
Intense snippet. Congrats on the new release and having your cover hosted on USA Today! That’s awesome!
I would not want to be the next person to summon her. Great snippet. 🙂
I wouldn’t want to piss off Nuet.
Enjoyed the snippet. Congrats on your early release. How exciting!
This is fairly intense. I wouldn’t want to made Nuet mad.
She’s already fought her battles, it isn’t fair to be pulling her into new ones, I agree. And I’d hate to see what she does if it happens again!
Sheesh! Don’t mess with that one!
I love Nuet more and more each week. She’s like a grumpy grandma who’s still physically young, only one you REALLY don’t want to piss off. Someone better tell the Moon Sisters what she said, or I’d rather Nuet do it herself. I’m quite sure that would be a comical scene for us readers! The Sisters could be running for the hills, but that’s even better then!
Congrats on the release!
Intense snippet. would like to step on Nuet’s toes either.
Great snippet. Each one leaves me wanting more.
Sandy’s ended up in a mess not her making and those Moon Sisters aren’t doing anyone any favors. LOL!
