I’m taking snippets from my recently released scifi romance Timtur: The Teacher’s Alien Healer (Badari Warriors) this week. (GABE, the next book in the series, actually released earlier in November so I’ll be switching to excerpts from it next week.)
Here’s the link to the Weekend Writing Warriors central page, so you can visit all the participants sharing excerpts today…a fun way to sample new books and find new authors! (Also welcome to the Sunday Snippet visitors!)

If you haven’t read any of my Badari Warriors books, here’s the background:
Genetically engineered soldiers of the far future, the Badari were created by alien enemies to fight humans. But then the scientists kidnapped an entire human colony from the Sectors to use as subjects in twisted experiments…the Badari and the humans made common cause, rebelled and escaped the labs. Now they live side by side in a sanctuary valley protected by a powerful Artificial Intelligence, and wage unceasing war on the aliens.
The excerpt – Lily and her stalker Vattan were alone in her office when Yonn, one of the young students interrupted them. I’ve skipped ahead a bit. Vattan ordered Yonn to leave and shoved him, slashing his arm with his talons in the process.
“Please, let the boy go,” Lily said, afraid of what Vattan might do next in his aggressive state, “You and I can talk about tonight once he’s gone.” Over her shoulder she said to Yonn, “Thank you for your help, now go and have the cut on your arm treated.” And get help. Not for the first time Lily wished she had the ability to speak to the Badari mind to mind as they spoke to each other. Surely the cub would summon assistance for her? But first he needed to get out of here.
Unfortunately, Yonn wasn’t ready to abandon his self-appointed role as her protector. He placed himself between the door and the adults, in an imitation of the defensive stance a warrior would assume in combat, “I’m not leaving you alone with him.” His words were spoken in a child’s treble, but the clear menace to Vattan was that of an adult twice his age.
Lily remembered again the Badari had been created by the alien scientists to be fearsome warriors and trained mercilessly for battle from a young age – surely Vattan wouldn’t harm a cub, would he?
The blurb:
Far from her home in the human Sectors after the mass kidnapping, teacher Lily Garrison is making a niche for herself in the valley by running a school for the Badari young. Although she yearns for Timtur, the pack’s healer, another Badari male has his eye on her and won’t take no for an answer.
Timtur feels the weight and responsibility of being the pack’s only healer, constantly on call as the soldiers fight ferocious battles against the alien scientists and their troops. With scarcely a moment to himself, he’s drawn to the gentle Lily but worries he won’t be able to juggle his duties, his loyalty to the pack and a relationship with a human woman.
When Lily’s stalker takes direct action to kidnap her and steal her from the safety of the valley, she’s forced to reach deep inside to find the strength to battle for her life. Timtur realizes too late how foolish he’s been to resist the bond with his fated mate and leads the rescue effort.
Before this situation can be resolved both will have to put their lives on the line and decide what really matters in a dangerous world ruled by the enemy.

And the blurb for my new release, Gabe:
Gabe Carter, hotshot pilot and ex-Special Forces soldier, is far from his home in the human Sectors, kidnapped by alien scientists to be the subject of horrifying experiments. Shot down by the enemy over desolate territory far from his Badari allies and gravely injured, Gabe’s only hope is a mysterious woman on the run herself.
Keshara has to decide whether to abandon the human to die of his injuries on a windswept mountain top or give up her own quest for freedom and take him to a place he can be helped. The undeniable spark between them complicates matters.
His attraction to her is off the charts but when she betrays him to the Khagrish enemy, Gabe doesn’t know what to believe. Trapped inside an alien lab bursting with mysteries and lies, his only hope may be to trust her…again.
Because the renegade alien scientist running her own private experiments wants to use him to accomplish her goals and perpetuate the evil, no matter what she has to do to ensure his compliance. Keshara’s life hangs in the balance and Gabe has to make a choice.

Oh, I feel a battle coming on. You’ve built the intensity very well! 🙂
I hope he wouldn’t, but it seems they’re two very stubborn characters. Nice snippet!
He’s very brave but perhaps . . . foolish?
I certainly wouldn’t put it past Vattan. He sounds like a creep.
What a brave kid. This excerpt says a lot about her. Despite her perilous position, she wanted the boy to get his cut taken care of first, then get her help.
Now that’s a dire situation. They might well fight to the death.
Uh oh – I think there’s about to be a battle. The cub seems like my young kitten – who doesn’t understand when the older cat is crouching and her ears are back it is time to back down – not charge forward.
Tweeted.
That’s a very intense, tense situation. It doesn’t seem like it’ll end well.
I think Yonn is following his training. It would probably be impossible for him to back down, but how will Vattan respond to this obvious challenge. Surely he can’t back down either?
Sounds like Vattan already hurt him, but surely fighting with a cub wouldn’t do much for his reputation. I like Yonn. I hope he grows up enough that we can get a book about him!
I’d like to write a book about Yonn as an adult – I guess we’ll see how the series goes. I’m really fond of him as a character.
Thanks for visiting and for the comments! Always much appreciated…
The limitless bravery of the young… I hope he doesn’t get hurt too badly. Great snippet! And congrats on the release!
Wonder what will make this boiling pot of tension spill over!
I have great admiration for the cub. I hope he doesn’t get hurt.
What tense scene. And there seems there will be a battle to come.
