Instead, she finds herself transported to 1715. Newly-minted Captain Henry Price can finally lead the crew. It’s not treasure he wants, but gold will give him the leverage he needs to hunt the Spanish warship responsible for his brother’s murder, even if it costs him his life. When a woman appears on his ship, challenging everything he believes in, Price will have to choose which future he wants, if there is to be any future at all. When the captain promises to keep her safe from the unruly crew until she disembarks at port, Angela is flattered. And when the captain treats her as an equal and defies her prejudices against men, she can’t help but swallow the pain of returning home. Amazon KU

VS Note: I really debated adding this one because domestic violence is such a difficult subject – trigger warnings bigtime for this book! – but the reviews were pretty much all positive and if it’s a time travel romance as billed, there must be an HEA, right? I checked for other reviews and no one mentioned it NOT having a satisfying ending so…I was intrigued by it, despite the awful way the book begins. I read the Look Inside and was caught up in the story already so I one clicked. I HAVE to see the happy ending.

I’m Darla. I’m a psychometrist. I can read thoughts and emotions left upon objects. Some people call my ability a “gift.” Some people are idiots. You see, my ability isn’t providing easy answers when I try to learn who killed one of my inn’s guests, a developer about to cover a scenic meadow with condos. The dead developer created another problem. Turns out his job site was the location of a long-ago demolished sanatorium. Unmarked graves are uncovered. And my “gift” is leaving me haunted by the memories of some of the sanatorium’s deceased patients: shifters and other supernaturals. I feel obligated to find justice for the victims, as well as solve the murder of my guest, with the help of the Memory Guild. They’re great at uncovering forgotten history. But they’re no help whatsoever in solving my problems. Like finding my second husband who’s still missing, without offending the dreamy detective who wants to be more than friends.Or, teaching my daughter how to help me at my historic inn, without her burning the place down. Or, making sure my inn’s own resident ghosts behave, without encouraging the Elvis impersonator’s spirit to sing “Hound Dog” in the middle of the day. I’d always believed that in middle age I’d be living the good life. Instead, I’m living the psychic life. Of magic, mayhem, and murder. Amazon KU
Lighted jack-o-lanterns, spooky music, and scary costumes set the scene for the annual trick-or-treat event in Paramour Bay. What should have been a fun and exciting holiday turns out to be a catastrophe of epic proportions! The village druid has spent most of the past year preparing for something dire that only she has foreseen, giving Raven and her friends little insight on what to expect or how to prepare for yet another apocalyptic event. No one is sure what to expect, but chaos ensues from the moment Mr. Leo stumbles and falls into a grave that has been disturbed inside the gates of the local cemetery. Were they simply dealing with vandalism, or has the dead begun rising from the grave? Amazon KU
I run with my own pack—my four demon wolves and the two friends I would kill to protect. We might be the rejected shifters of the Vegas supernaturals, different and unwanted, but our pack is strong. Feared. Think of us as your local supernatural vigilantes. With my demon wolves secretly watching our backs, we’re unstoppable. Until the night the first rune appears on the streets. A rune that hasn’t been seen for hundreds of years, sending the Vegas supernaturals into a tailspin. It seems that the Master of Demon Runes has returned, a demon with unlimited power to deceive and kill, dragged up from the depths of the underworld itself. What he wants, no one knows. Except maybe… me. Because there’s a teeny tiny chance that my demon wolves used to be his. And an even larger chance he won’t return to the underworld without them… Or without me. Amazon KU

My mother, who is a powerful witch, had a prophecy—I will marry Mal, one of the Kings of Hell, become pregnant, and our child will save the earth. It’s not exactly the life I dreamed of, but I’ll do whatever it takes to save those I love. Now she’s bound Mal to earth and rendered him human so we can be together, and I’m starting to think that marrying a demon isn’t as bad as it sounds. He’s sinfully hot and it’s sexy how he’s so protective of me. Given the forces in heaven and hell aren’t happy about the idea of our child, I think I’m going to need all the protection I can get…Except there’s one minor detail of the prophecy that I’m convinced is wrong—my husband will die. I don’t care what any damn prophecy says. I’m not going to let anything happen to Mal and we’ll fight heaven and hell to be together. Amazon KU
Jennel is looking to settle down, and Redbird City is the place for it. She and her nephew, Corit, are looking for a place they can be safe from hostile orc clans and a decades-old vision. She registers as an elemental with the local mayor’s office, and they connect her with the orc clan speaker. She can apply to him to gain protection for her nephew and, hopefully, entry into a clan. Once she’s registered, she returns to her new house to meet the movers, and a parade of orcs moves stuff from the van to the house when she meets her new neighbour. Day-ek just got off a shift and noticed the fae woman sitting on the deck and a set of three orcs moving furniture into the house. He comes over to introduce himself, and he takes in her curves and the very frank assessment she gives him and offers to give her a hand. Jennel introduces Day-ek to Corit, and when her mention of having to meet the speaker inspires a grin, she gets a funny feeling about her neighbour. When she meets the speaker and he gives her that cheeky grin while he demands a night with him for each of the three clans he speaks for, she knows that Corit is safe, and she’s got a date. And then… things get complicated.
“Fated love means nothing when we can avoid extinction. One tiny sacrifice will appease the shadows. It’s a shame, really. You’ve always been my pretty little monster.” Those were the last words I heard from my Alpha, my fated mate, before his Beta tossed me off the cliff into a land of no return: Demon Valley, the place where no human or wolf shifter survives. Legends claim there’s an escape from the shadowy, demon-infested haven, but no one has ever returned to confirm the truth. Except me. There’s a reason no one comes back from Demon Valley, and when I reach the end of its dark tunnel, I finally understand why. At that grand exit lies a place of rejected salvation. Our Goddess may have blessed me with the ultimate plot for revenge, starting with the Alpha of Nightmare Daemons himself. Malifer Nightshade. A beast of shadows. A seductive master. Creator of this forbidden valley. And the rejected older brother of my Alpha. To gain salvation, one must be tested. For me, that means destroying my bond with the Alpha I expected to spend my life with. After his shattering betrayal, it’s the only option, and I won’t deny the ultimate truth. I’m angry – broken – and with the help of these very addictive shadows, I’ll show my old pack of deceitful wolves exactly what a pretty little monster I can be. Amazon KU
I never thought that my old pack would keep me in chains. Nor could I imagine that the one that once loved me, would become my torturer. They want information that I can’t give them. I have to keep Shifter Town and my mates safe. I will do my best to keep the truth concealed. To withstand whatever torture they might inflict, unless it threatens the secret baby growing inside my belly. A child that is not wolf, but bear. Amazon KU
My sight is a gift and also a curse. It cost me the love of my life. We may have been young, but some things you don’t get over. Like being the cause of the biggest tragedy of your boyfriend’s life. It’s something I’ll never forget, and a reflection of who I am. But now that Jackson’s back in town, with scars and a hero’s badge of honor, it’s time for me to be brave, too. A malevolent evil hell-bent on making my sisters and me pay for rebuffing him is still stalking my family, and some ancient writings portended that the six were the only ones who could defeat him. Jackson Pruitt and I round out that magical number, which means I have to face the evil and the things Jack makes me feel, to save my family and my city. I never sought to reconnect with Jack. Working with him now means opening myself up to my feelings for him. Refusing means destruction for us all.
When I stole a demon artifact for a client, I never expected it to result in a magic curse. Failure to reverse it will result in the death of someone close to me, the end of my uneasy alliance with the head vampire, and open season on my family. As if that didn’t suck enough, my screw-up on a dangerous fact-finding mission may have kicked my sexual tension with the wolf shifter in the balls. At least I’m not obsessing over it, since fighting through a maze of mind games, tested loyalties, and secrets is consuming all my energy. So, glass half-full. Now armed with my trusty to-do list, I’m determined to multitask my way to victory like a magic badass. Yaas, Queen. Amazon KU
War has finally come to the Mists. The Murk have invaded, and if they have their way, the men I love and all the other fae in the place I now call home will fall before their twisted magic. I’m not a tool but a wild card our enemies still don’t fully understand. But our only chance at victory may come at a cost too high for me to bear. What if winning means destroying the bonds that have made my life worth living? Amazon KU

Cursed long ago to check their growing power, vampires can only coexist in small groups. Yet despite their many conflicts, those Of the Bloode possess similar traits. All vampires, no matter where they came from, are male. They can go unnoticed by humans unless they wish otherwise, and they can’t survive sunlight. Mormo, servant of the goddess Hecate, has created a small, new bloode clan at her behest. The six vampires he commands are rough, ill-disciplined, and mean, and they fail to follow orders on a daily basis. But they’re needed. Something big and bad is coming. She knows that without a strong force to contain the threat, chaos will come, destroying everything in its wake. Hecate’s secret weapons are those Of the Bloode—vampires. Though they refuse to worship anything but themselves, she loves their wild ways. In order to battle gods and monsters and survive, they’ll need ferocity, inner strength, and something to fight for. Because there is nothing so dangerous as a predator who loves, and those Of the Bloode protect what’s theirs at all costs, in undeath and beyond. And Varujan of the Night Bloode has just found the one female he can’t do without.
VS: The next (and most recent) book in my Badari Warriors Backlist is TRATUS! I thought it was high time to visit the Tzibir pack of Badari out in the desert and look into what was going on with them. Especially since their Alpha continues to co-operate with the evil Khagrish scientists.
Katrin Rodgerr, ex-Space Navy, was perfectly happy as Third Officer on a tramp freighter in the Outer Sectors, until the day she and everyone on board the ship were kidnapped by alien scientists to become subjects of gruesome experiments. Far away from home or help, Katrin does her best to bolster the other prisoners’ morale and look for a way to escape. Until one day she’s chosen for an experiment of another sort – given to a pack of alien supersoldiers as a prospective breeder.
Tratus, senior enforcer of the Tzibir pack, never expected to find his mate, much less to meet her among the human prison population of the labs. But there she is and there’s no denying the instincts. Despite his Alpha’s objections, Tratus manages to convince the alien scientists to give Katrin to him and he vows to protect her. Deeply unhappy with the way his leader runs the pack as he disobeys all their goddess’s commandments and refuses to ally with other Badari packs to fight the scientists who created them, Tratus plots a revolt.
Despite herself Katrin is drawn to the giant humanoid warrior with alien predator DNA who treats her so respectfully. His scales and other differences from human males only make him more attractive in his own way. But the Alpha distrusts her and Tratus, and time is running out for them both…
Can Tratus defeat the Alpha leading his pack to inevitable doom? Can he and Katrin survive the consequences and find their way to claiming each other as true mates or must he let her go?
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
