ALIEN DRAGON’S HUNT (DRAGONS OF KITALA BOOK 1) by Aline Ash
I’m screwed. First, I’m kidnaped by ugly, toad-looking alien slavers. Then, their space ship crashes. Stranded in the wilderness, I doubt my negotiation skills and strong work ethic will do me any good. When a massive beast swoops down from the sky, I’m certain I’m about to meet death. Rough scales, strong wings, and a huge tail flash in front of me. Hard muscles stretch over his humongous body. But instead of tearing into me, the warrior dragon eyes me. Judging by the way his loincloth moves, he likes what he sees. And who wouldn’t? Still chained and with my bare beauty on display, I’m practically gift-wrapped for him. I should be intimidated by this dominant and powerful barbarian chieftain named Haze. Instead, I wonder what it would be like to carry his babies. Yet Haze can never have me. I’m the property of the local mafia, who has invaded his planet. I’ll be sold to the highest bidder to entertain some gangster. If Haze fights for me, his tribe will die. Will this possessive dragon let me go to keep his tribe safe? Or will he claim me?
Can a horned alien warrior and an isolated woman grant two children their holiday wish for a family? Jaelle is lonely. Ostracized by the village, like her mother and grandmother before her, she poses as an old witch in order to eke out a meager living selling herbal remedies to people who don’t want to admit they need her help. When children start disappearing from the village, she is determined to find an answer to the riddle. She doesn’t expect to find a massive, horned alien – one who sees through all her disguises.
Since crash-landing on K.R.S Three, Commander Krampusarian D’Marchandar spends his time working on his ship and secretly observing the other inhabitants. During his explorations, he discovers a strange, beautiful female. It is an impossible attraction – but when he sees her treatment at the hands of the other villagers, he decides she is his to protect.
He shouldn’t have been too hasty…Soon after the destruction of his treasured ship, he stood face to face with the woman who destroyed his Federation career and his pirate legacy. And he couldn’t kill her. Not that he didn’t want to, but something inside him wouldn’t let him. So bit it, but he would get his revenge one way or another. Except, nothing is simple when it comes to Fenton. She’s brilliant and honest and has connections any pirate captain would kill for. She’d be an asset to the new crew. But when she saves his life instead of leaving him to rot, Kava has to reevaluate his strategy from enticing her to be a part of his crew, to be his mate.

Captured, beaten, and on the brink of death, Rogue and the surviving members of the resistance barely manage to escape the dungeons of Prime City with their lives. As they set out into the unknown they must prepare for the fight of their lives. A storm is coming…With Rogue and Moran spearheading the resistance, they dream of freeing Prime City from its tyrannical rule. But dangers surrounds them on all sides, and they have more to contend with than simple war. Can they succeed, or will the prehistoric world swallow them whole?
The Earth is a desolate wasteland, taken over by space snakes determined to kill off humankind one woman at a time. However, there is one option in order to be free of the wretched place: agree to become a mail order bride for the fierce breed of Vikingr aliens. Tora is so desperate to leave the treacherous planet that she signs up to marry an alien that she has never actually met. Ragnex is just happy to finally be involved in something more than work. It seems like a good idea to Tora at first—even if the Vikingr have a certain reputation for being a brutal race. Known throughout the universe as fierce and battle-hungry, it is a ruse that these aliens are determined to keep in order to protect their planet from further plundering. But, can Tora chip away at Ragnex’s harsh exterior to find the man beneath the beast?
Seven warriors bring an affliction upon themselves due to their arrogance. And their curse? Each one now battles with a vice that will lead them to destruction and death. Unless… they find a female that is their opposite in every way. This is a rendition of the seven deadly sins and how each one affects the hero, but ultimately leads him to his fated mate.
My husband has horns, hooves, fur, and a tail. His Krampus-like appearance didn’t scare me away from marrying him. Forever an optimist, I eagerly agreed to be the first bride shipped under the new liaison program to Voran, a country on the newly discovered planet Neron. The Colonel also has two little boys—a huge plus for me since I adore children. My down-to-earth sister says I live with my head in the clouds. And maybe I naively hoped for an out-of-this-world romance. What I didn’t expect was an out-of-this-world brute. The scowling, growling, rough-around-the-edges Colonel proves hard to live with and impossible to love. He’s also proud and possessive and is dead set on keeping me as his wife. Did I mention he has horns? Well, he’s also horny… And our expectations of marriage don’t exactly align. There is something behind the scowl of this infuriating man, though, that intrigues me. Catching glimpses of his strong, fur-covered body makes my stomach flutter with excitement. I came to Voran hoping to find my place in its culture and in the Colonel’s heart.
Could there be a way to make this thing between us work?
I thought I would be arrested when the police cornered me during the demonstration, but instead, I find myself teleported onto the ship of alien slavers who inject me with chemicals so they can sell me to an Alpha of their race.
But when another Earth woman and her alien mate come to my rescue, I find myself in the position of being able to fight back against those who took me. The plan is simple enough—kidnap the son of a nobleman to use as leverage for what we need to get to escape the dangers in this star system…and to get me home to Earth. But our prisoner, the Alpha I try so hard to hate, isn’t all that he appears. And what lies under the surface may seal my fate as his mate.

Ori’s holidays are an endless series of elaborately awful meals cooked by her one-time stepfather Dave’s latest bride. Attended by a loose assemblage of family, Ori particularly dreads Grandma Elving—grandmother of Dave’s fourth wife—and her rhapsodizing about the Christmas she worked at Woolworth’s in the 1950s. And, of course, she hates being condescended to by beautiful, popular Sloane and her latest handsome pre-med or pre-law boyfriend.
But this Christmas is different. Sloane’s latest catch Lassiter is extremely interested in Grandma Elving’s boringly detailed memories of that seasonal job, seeing in them the hallmarks of a TFBM, or traumatic flashbulb memory. With Ori’s assistance, he begins to use the older woman in an experiment—one she eagerly agrees to. As Ori and Lassiter spend more time together, Ori’s feelings for him grow alongside the elusive mystery of Grandma’s past.

Contains two shorter works set in Lee and Miller’s Liaden Universe®. Short story “A Visit to the Galaxy Ballroom,” which first appeared on the Baen Books website; original novelette “Ambient Conditions;” and an authors’ foreword. “Galaxy Ballroom” explores the rift that has opened in the Scouts subsequent to Korval’s removal to the planet Surebleak, and the consequences of loyalty. “Ambient Conditions” details a dark time in Liaden history, and looks at what happens when discarded people are given power, and must choose how to use it.
The only bridge between past and future is a leap of faith. Pursued by enemies, exiled Liaden clan Korval is settling into a new base on backworld Surebleak. Moving is expensive, as is war, and Korval is strapped for cash. Delm Korval has therefore instructed Master Trader Shan yos’Galan to design and implement new trade routes, quickly. But this is no easy task. Dutiful Passage is targeted by Korval’s enemies, denied docking at respectable ports, and cheated at those less respectable. Struggling to recuperate from an attack on his life, while managing daughter Padi’s emerging psychic talents, Shan is running out of options—and time. His quest to establish the all-important trade route puts him at odds with his lifemate, while doubting crew desert the ship. Facing the prospect of failure, Shan accepts the assistance of chancy allies and turns the Passage toward a port only just emerging from Rostov’s Dust and awash with strange energies. Without trade, Clan Korval will starve. Will a trader’s leap of faith save everything—or doom all?

If I told you, that would be spoiling the last book. I know, I know. Not everyone likes secrets, but that’s half of the fun of telling my story. I’ll tell you when the time is right. Promise. The following blurb might contain spoilers for Succubus Unchained. Be warned before you scroll down. There might be something to this new life of mine. Being mated to Maddox and bonded to Alfred isn’t so bad. Rogue is stealing his way into my heart and Fin already had part of it. Halliday Valentine here! It’s a week before Christmas, and my quaint holiday town, Marshmallow Hollow, is chock-a-block with seasonal activities. Some less fun than others…like the ice sculpting competition my bestie, Stiles, has talked me into. Let’s just say, as a pair, Michelangelo we ain’t. I’m secretly relieved when our epically awful ice display gets damaged. It gives me a chance to watch my new beau, Hobbs, compete in the sled race. But not five seconds in, and Hobbs’s sled-loving dog, Stephen King, escapes my grip to get in on the action—and boy, does he. He even manages to find himself a sled to ride. Too bad it’s already occupied. With the corpse of a renowned ice sculpting judge. True-crime lovers that we are, Hobbs and I jump right into the investigation. It’s not nosiness, I swear. A little kitten’s fate is on the line, after all (long story)! Only problem? A bajillion suspects. The victim was nothing if not an equal-opportunity jerk, universally hated by everyone he’d ever met. And every suspect has an air-tight alibi. Not to mention, the murder weapon is a giant mystery the police can’t solve. All this sleuthing would be a heck of a lot easier if I could just use my magic. But can I trust Hobbs with that reveal? Or more accurately, is he ready for that reveal?

But how can a simple, non-magical son of a witch like me, single out just one suspect when it seems that everyone had a motive to whack this witch?

This is one of those books where I literally woke up one morning and had the entire plot in my head. Those are like magic for an author and so I set aside the one I had been working on and wrote this one (or let it write itself). I’m very fond of these two characters. There’s another character in this one (not the heroine) who my readers felt I’d treated unfairly and they wanted her to have her own story…so I eventually wrote IVOKK for her and had so much fun doing it, giving her her own Badari hero, but that one is ten books further off in the series…
JADRIAN’S story: Taura Dancer has been pushed to her limits by alien torturers known as the Khagrish and is ready to die when suddenly the lab where she’s held as a prisoner is taken down by an armed force of soldiers.
The man who rescues her from a burning cell block is Jadrian of the Badari, a genetically engineered alien warrior with as many reasons to hate the Khagrish as Taura has. This set of shared past experiences and the circumstances of her rescue create an unusual bond between them.
Safe in the hidden base where Jadrian and his pack take her, Taura struggles to regain her lost memories and overcome constant flashbacks during which she lashes out at all who come near. Only Jadrian can recall her from the abyss of her visions and hallucinations.
As the war against the Khagrish continues, it becomes increasingly critical to find out who she really is and how she can help in the fight. Until she can control her terrors and trust her own impulses, Taura’s too afraid to pursue the promise of happiness a life with Jadrian as her mate might offer.
When he’s captured by the dreaded enemy, will she step forward to help save him, or will she remain a prisoner of her past?
Genetically engineered soldiers of the far future, the Badari were created by alien enemies to fight humans. But then the scientists kidnapped an entire human colony from the Sectors to use as subjects in twisted experiments…the Badari and the humans made common cause, rebelled and escaped the labs. Now they live side by side in a sanctuary valley protected by a powerful Artificial Intelligence, and wage unceasing war on the aliens. Some overarching issues do remain unresolved in each book since this is an ongoing series but romance always wins the day in my novels!
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
