When I was rejected two years ago, my pack began hunting for me. Better dead than rejected, they said. The Outcast Pack gave me a home and kept me hidden from them, and I got comfortable.
Too comfortable. My pack’s hunters have closed in on me. Now the only way I can survive is by taking a mate, and then watching said mate pass my pack’s challenges. That’s their way of proving to them that he belongs in the pack, and that I’m more than the worthless rejected female they see me as. My friend Bash volunteers to be my mate, in name and deed only… but our feelings for each other are bigger than either of us will admit. Amazon KU
You might think being Santa Claus’s daughter sounds like a dream, right? Wrong. I never wanted the obligations that come along with the family business, and this is the year I’m supposed to take over for my old man. But I have no intention of letting that happen. That’s why I’m hiding out in a tiny mountain town where nobody can find me—not even my father’s elves. I’ll just ride things out here and wait until Christmas is over, and then my problems will be solved. Simple, right? Wrong again. Because I wasn’t planning on meeting someone like Lizzie Collins in my small-town hideaway. She runs the local candle shop, and I can’t get enough of her—smart, snarky, and a die-hard Christmas fan. Oh, and did I mention that she just so happens to be the only person in town with a spare room for rent? I know I’m falling for her, but there’s just one little problem: she has no idea who I really am. It’s not exactly easy to break the news to the woman you love that Santa Claus is real—and that she’s dating the reluctant heiress to the Santa empire. My father’s elves are getting closer in their search for me, and the countdown to Christmas Eve is on. Will I be able to come clean to Lizzie and have everything I’ve ever dreamed of? Or will I be dragged back to the North Pole with a broken heart? Amazon KU
Des (don’t call her Destiny—she hates that name) is an elf with a problem. A jolly, red-suit wearing, gift-bearing, reindeer-loving problem. Turns out, someone has stolen Santa Claus’s magic. And it’s three days before Christmas. What’s an elf to do? Help him out, of course. That’s her specialty, after all. Except that creates a whole new problem: Des has to work closely with the Man in Red while keeping her presents under wraps, because there is definitely one thing she will not do. Ride in Santa’s sleigh tonight.
What do you do when the person who’s your whole word vanishes in a monstrous light? You hunt them down, of course. Across continents, to the edge of the Waste, through death and deception all the way to the corpse of the creature who would have killed you both. And when you find him? Well. You do what you have to to keep him. Anything you have to. Amazon

Village nurse Walter Kennett is content with his makeshift found-family in tiny Bradfield. However, one midsummer morning a body is found floating in the village duck pond, dead by magical means.
Detective Simon Frost arrives in Bradfield to investigate an inexplicable murder. The evidence seems to point to Lucille Hall-Bridges, who lives with Doctor Sylvia Marks and Walter Kennett at Courtfield House. Simon isn’t happy — he doesn’t believe Lucy is a murderer, but he’s sure the three of them are hiding something. In the meantime, the draw he feels toward Walter takes him by surprise. Walter is in a dilemma, concealing Sylvia and Lucy’s relationship and not knowing how much to tell Frost about the paranormal possibilities of the murder. He isn’t interested in going to bed with anyone — he’s got a complicated life and has to know someone really well before he falls between the sheets. He’s taken aback by his own attraction to Detective Frost and is angry when Frost appears to twist the spark between them to something transactional in nature. Will Walter be satisfied to stay on the periphery of Lucy and Sylvia’s love affair, a welcome friend but never quite included? Or is it time for him to strike out and embark on a relationship of his own?
Rachael isn’t good at magic, and she’s not versed in life, but this witch wants to lay her hands on the sexy vampire who’s come to her in her dreams. She wants just one thing for Christmas wish — her vampire. Gavin wants the witch in his dreams, but he doesn’t believe he’s worthy of her. Part of him wants to devour her magic and save himself, but what if being saved doesn’t involve dying? Anything is possible with a little Christmas magic.
I was born with a shadow inside me, a beast clawing and ripping its way to freedom. I was born with a clock inside me, the tick-ticking of my heartbeat drawing us all closer to the inevitable, the inescapable. The end of everything. And now, finally, it has arrived. The world is burning, the souls are screaming, the castles are crumbling. Death is here for us all, but I am a warrior of light, a conqueror of worlds, a protector of souls. I have seen the face of death, and it is only one face in a sea of many, one name in a language so vast, most of the words have been forgotten … but languages can be learned. In a world of lost words, even death has a name. In the forgotten places full of forgotten whispers, magic can always be found. Even by the weakest of us. Even the cursed and condemned, the stewards or sectorians, the warriors or maidens, the gods or mortals. Even someone like me. This epic, apocalyptic fantasy is dark, lush and gritty. The heroin has multiple, slow-burn love interests, who all begin as true enemies, so you don’t have to choose your favourite anti-hero. This series has some intense and dark themes, and the heroes begin as utterly irredeemable alphaholes, so consider yourselves warned! Amazon KU
No matter how Flynn Dalton tries to avoid it, the supernatural finds her. At first it’s not so bad. Flynn’s girlfriend, Genesis, is a nationally known psychic, which makes Flynn uncomfortable for both paranormal and financial reasons, but she can handle it. As long as no one makes her talk about it.
Then, on her way home from her construction job, Flynn almost ends up the latest casualty of Festivity’s infamous Dead Man’s Pond. And when her ex-lover’s ghost appears to warn her away, things get a whole lot weirder. Flynn might not like it, but the pond has fixated on her to be its next victim. If she wants to survive, she’ll have to swallow her pride, accept Gen’s help, and get much closer to the psychic realm—and her own latent psychic abilities—than she ever wanted.
“Every person is paired up with another and we have to do something for them. An experience, an event, a gesture. More than socks and undies under the Christmas tree. Something that communicates how we feel about them.” Marcus is at it again, but this time he’s being open with the pack. Feeling out of his depth, unable to truly understand how a healthy relationship works, he wants everyone to make some sort of gesture for the others to show how they feel. But as per usual, he’s playing with fire. This pack may have found their way towards each other, but what happens when you’re required to put exactly how you feel out there on the line? Join Cyn and the gang as they work through a series of increasingly sweet tableaus, discovering exactly how they feel about each other as they go and just what they want from the relationship. A blocked writer looking for inspiration – Kaylee –I write about bad men who do dirty things to needy women. Or I used to. I’m on a deadline and the words aren’t coming. My creative well is nothing more than a mud puddle. Perhaps a reflection of my equally uninspiring life. But then I encounter a smoking man with a serious book habit at my local library. Suddenly, he’s my hero. I’m writing about a gorgeous bespectacled guy with lickable abs and bitable biceps. The words are flowing, but it’s not the book I meant to write. Not enough handcuffs, too many teeth and claws…and I’m not entirely sure why. A nerdy dragon looking for love – Dex – I found her. My one true mate. And… She thinks I’m a lunatic. “Dragons aren’t real.” I just have to convince a woman with an imagination so vast she creates fictional worlds for a living that everything she’s ever dreamt is real, magic included. No problem. Without revealing my true form. More complicated. While keeping her safe. Dammit.
It’s been twelve years since the Awakening. Otherlings are out of the paranormal closet. The whole world knows that creatures like vampires, werewolves, and witches exist. So, seeing dead people barely even rates on the freaky scale. Right? Wrong. Fritz Tolliver figures he must have done something terrible in a previous life to be afflicted with such a curse. In fact, every bad thing that has ever happened to him can be traced back to his unwanted ability. So, when a stupidly hot werewolf who’s way out of his league claims to be his mate, he should be thrilled. And he probably would have been if he hadn’t gone and gotten himself haunted by a nasty spirit on the same day. When a human male strolls into the station asking for a job—and promptly spills an entire Americano on him—Sheriff Vander Hale has a feeling it’s going to be a bad day. Then, the door opens, the wind shifts, and suddenly, his whole world changes. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his mate, no battle he wouldn’t wage, even if his enemy is technically already dead. Unfortunately, there’s just one problem with his plan. He’d go to hell and back for Fritz, but how is he supposed to fight something he can’t see? Amazon KU
Otter shifter and piano player Abe is usually pretty suave, but that was before the otterly amazing new choir director turned out to be his fated mate! His otter is so excited that Abe himself can’t get a word in edgewise. How can he impress his mate if he can’t even talk to her? Blaire thought her new job as a choir director in Virtue would be a breeze, but the old piano player took one look at her and quit, and the new one can’t even meet her eyes! Which is just too bad, because he’s probably the most handsome man Blaire has ever seen. Why, if Abe could only make eye contact, Blaire might even be prepared to consider him a potential significant otter! But rehearsals for the choir concert mean at least they’re together, and it’s not long before they realize they have a whole lotter more than music in common. From ice skating to hot springs, the winter holiday activities in town bring them closer and closer…right up to one last surprise that reveals itself at the Christmas concert! Amazon KU
Jackson. Hunter. Tom. Primal predators. Testosterone-driven. Alpha werewolf shifters. Experienced fighters with rippling muscles. They could snap me like a twig. I should stay away. A fragile human like me can’t handle all three beasts. But I have no choice. To find my missing sister, I put myself at their mercy. I need the savage bikers’ help. And they want me. Despite my fear, they intoxicate me.
I know I should stay away. Yet I can’t resist. So when they demand I mate with them, I say yes.
Sealing my future. Binding myself to them forever. Unleashing the beasts. Will playing with fire allow me to save my sister? Or will the flame burn me to a crisp? Amazon KU
VS: This week’s featured backlist title is HOSTAGE TO THE STARS, which is the sequel to last week’s MISSION TO MAHJUNDAR. Johnny, a secondary character in the first book, was a huge reader favorite (and favorite of mine too) and I had many requests for him to have his own story. I just had to wait for the right adventure to come to me. The kernel of the story is the fact that in modern times, Special Forces don’t always get sent in to rescue hostages. I had read several true accounts of people who were taken as hostages in various parts of the world and eventually rescued by SEALs. Johnny is a firm believer in the adage that no one gets left behind.
He rescued her from space pirates … but can he keep them both safe from the far greater evil stalking a deserted planet?
Space travel without Kidnap & Ransom insurance? Not a good idea. University instructor and researcher Sara Bridges can’t afford it, so when pirates board her cruise liner, she’s taken captive along with the mistress of a wealthy man, and brought to a deserted planet. When a military extraction team sent to rescue the mistress refuses to take Sara too, she’s left to the mercies of a retired Special Forces soldier, along as consultant.
Reluctantly reactivated and coerced into signing up for the rescue operation to the planet Farduccir where he once was deployed, Sgt. Johnny Danver just wants to get the job done. But when the team leader leaves one captured woman behind, he breaks away to rescue her himself.
As Johnny and Sara traverse the barren landscape, heading for an abandoned base where they hope to call Sectors Command for help, they find villages destroyed by battle and stripped of all inhabitants. A lone survivor tells a horrific tale of the Sectors’ alien enemy, the Mawreg, returning after being pushed out …
Searching for evidence to give the military, Johnny is captured. He regains consciousness in a Mawreg cage–with Sara next to him. Death is preferable to what the aliens will do to them… And even if they do escape their captors, can they alert the military in time to prevent another invasion of the Sectors?
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
