Can You Keep A Secret? Snippet from STAR CRUISE STAR SONG

From  STAR CRUISE STAR SONG.

The excerpt – Addy ignored a message from Ryder in favor of preparing for her first day on the new job. So he came to find her. I’ve jumped ahead and now they’re on their first dinner date.

“So how was the first day on the job?” he asked. “Did the engines meet your expectations?”

“Oh my gosh, yes. They’re magnificent and perfectly in tune too,” she said with enthusiasm. “The energy in those chambers is off the charts.”

“So I know what it means for me to be in tune,” he said with a grin, “But what does it mean for engines?”

Trying to decide whether she could trust him with the truth, Addy decided to take the risk. “The harmonics of all four were synced and meshed and it was like standing in the eye of a hurricane with a symphony going on all around me. I loved it.” Words failed her and she focused on her appetizer.

“Wow, doesn’t sound like a technical term at all. I was expecting a complicated discussion of physics. Now I’m curious—if I went down there, could I hear it?”

She shook her head, sorry she’d mentioned her joy. “No, it’s um not something a person can hear with their ears.”

Head tilted and eyes narrowed, as if he was trying to determine whether she was joking, he  asked, “So how do you hear it then?”

“In my head.”  She swallowed hard. “I can hear the harmonics of most modern technology, especially if I concentrate. I don’t talk about it though because no one understands. Well except my Dad, he has the same ability. He taught me how to control when and where I hear it. He said it’s the star song and only the most blessed of our lineage can tap into it.” Addy smiled, missing her family and a bit embarrassed to be sharing the story. Her father could be whimsical, especially when he’d had a few too many feelgoods.

Ryder was intent, leaning forward over the table. “Truly amazing. What does it sound like?”

“I can’t describe it.” Desperate, she chewed her next bite of hors d’ouevre and considered. “I could draw it for you because it makes a pattern if I close my eyes.”

“Oh yes absolutely because I’m totally intrigued here.” He got the attention of their waiter and when the man came over, asked for a writing instrument and paper. Perplexed, brow furrowed, the server rushed off.

“But it has to be our secret,” Addy said.

Care To Gamble? Snippet from STAR CRUISE STAR SONG SciFi Rock Star Romance

My scifi rock star romance STAR CRUISE STAR SONG, which got a really great review from the Books of My Heart blog!

The excerpt: Addy and Ryder have been at dinner and he wants to keep the evening going:

They left the restaurant and strolled along the promenade towards the casino and the other entertainment venues. Addy heard music faintly from the theater but as they came close to the casino, all other sound was drowned out by the games of chance being played inside.

“Care to gamble?” he asked.

She shook her head. “No, thanks. I’m not much for taking chances. Besides, I can hear one machine is malfunctioning and if we go in there, I’ll be compelled to find it and tag it for repair.” She shrugged, still amazed she could be comfortable enough with Ryder to discuss her gift with him. “It can become a compulsion if I let it.”

“Out of all the noise and clamor, you can hear one machine?”

“It’s my gift,” she said simply. “Listen it’s been an exceptional evening and I’ve enjoyed our conversation but I should probably get back to my cabin.”

Head tilted he studied her. “Let me guess, and go over schematics or whatever they’re called? How about we keep the evening going a little longer? Come to my cabin for an after dinner coffee, or whatever you’d like to drink? You were talking about a compulsion and I’ve got one to write down the song your drawing put into my head.”

Low key panic ran through Addy like a jolt of electricity. Was he going to make a pass at her? Should she go to his cabin and take the chance? Part of her was severely tempted because being with Ryder was  better than spending time with anyone else she’d ever met…but she didn’t want to be embarrassed or worse.

VS: What do we think, readers? Can she trust Ryder?

I’m now taking snippets from my newly released novel STAR CRUISE STAR SONG.

The excerpt: Addy believes there’s something wrong with the ship’s antigrav transport system and has alerted the Ship’s Artificial Intelligence.

“There is a tech doing routine maintenance on the central impeller now,” the Ship said. “On Level  20 sublevel 3. I’m scanning the readouts and I concur this is quite alarming. You need to go and correct the technician immediately.”

Swallowing hard, Addy looked back into the gravlift, seeing crew members rising and descending in great numbers. All these people are at risk if I don’t take immediate action. “But shouldn’t we tell the Chief Engineer? Or the captain? Or—“

“Go now, ensign.” The ship was relentless.

Addy took one step and another, clutching her backpack and leaped into the sparkling stream, heading toward the bottom as fast as she could go. Fortunately she was accomplished at riding antigrav, had won a number of races in her intramural days at the Academy and made it to the central mechanism terminus in record time. She stepped off onto the platform and yelled at the startled technician kneeling there. “Stop! You’re doing it backward,” she said. “Never spin the ancillary nubs in the reverse direction. And you’ve got the finbusters set too low.” Dropping her bag, she stepped forward and elbowed him aside. “Let me fix this.” As she adjusted the mechanism and tweaked the parameters she could hear the harmonics of the antigrav generator settle down from the terrifying ragged edge she’d been assaulted by when she’d stepped into the stream twenty odd levels above. The urge to close her eyes and submerge herself in the beautifully restored rhythm was nearly overwhelming but she couldn’t indulge her gift in a public setting.

VS Note: What a start for her first day on the ship! More next week…

Engines Are Easier Weekend Writing Warriors

Here’s the link to the Weekend Writing Warriors central page, so you can visit all the participants sharing excerpts today…a fun way to sample new books and find new authors! (Also welcome to the Sunday Snippet visitors!)

I’m now taking snippets from my newly released novel STAR CRUISE STAR SONG.

The snippet from close to the beginning of the book. Addy is at the spaceport on her way to join her new spaceship, the Nebula Zephyr cruise liner. I’ve jumped ahead a little bit and Addy and Ryder are getting on the shuttle to go to the cruise ship in orbit above:

Addy led the way to seats at the rear.

“Afraid of a crash?” he asked as he stowed his gear and hers. “I don’t think any of us would survive, sitting at the back or not.”

She wasn’t about to explain any of her various reasons for the seating choice, not her anxiety, nor her desire to hear the engines more closely nor…well, anything else. “What brings you to the ship?” she asked instead, a little desperately. The employee orientation had suggested the question as a surefire conversational gambit when encountering a passenger.

He frowned as he sat next to her and offered her three pieces of red-and-white striped candy, which he’d fished out of the satchel while storing it in the overhead bin. “I’m meeting a few old friends at the next planet and then we’re going to do a gig together. Maybe. I haven’t quite decided. I kinda like the solitary road.”

“Oh.” She didn’t know where to go from there. She was having flashbacks to every school she’d ever attended, where even if she was lucky enough to have another person want to be friends, she never knew what to say. Engines and any high tech system were so much easier to understand but other kids weren’t interested in talking about those.

VS: Next week we’ll see where the conversation goes…

Why I Wrote STAR CRUISE STAR SONG My New #SciFi Release Plus Excerpt

I like to write a new Star Cruise novel once a year (there are currently nine books in the series) and for 2022 the entry is STAR CRUISE STAR SONG.  The main male character is a has been rock star on the verge of a comeback and the main female character is a newly minted graduate engineer and the newest member of the interstellar cruise ship’s crew.

For my various series, I try hard not to write a ‘cookie cutter’ story each time but to put new twists into the plot. I’ve never done one where one of the main characters was in the Engineering department and it gave me a new perspective from which to observe the established world of the Nebula Zephyr. I love rock star romances and so I was more than happy to revisit the trope (STAR CRUISE SONGBIRD is my other rock star romance) for this book but I made him someone whose career ended under difficult circumstances and who isn’t currently performing.

His old band wants to get back together and he’s highly conflicted about it. Addy, the female lead, is extremely serious about her career, not a ‘people person’ as she herself admits more than once and forms a close bond with Maeve the Artificial Intelligence running the ship. Writing this book gave me insights into Maeve and the eventual origin story I’ll be doing for her and the ship’s captain, which was helpful. Maeve certainly is evolving over the course of these books.

So Ryder has his challenges once he begins to fall for Addy and to realize how important to him she is.

Okay and there’s a pet. I just kept seeing Addy with a pet (no spoilers). He doesn’t take part in the plot issues but he’s there in a few scenes and he was fun to research and to write. Most of the Star Cruises include a pet (but not all of them – STAR CRUISE MAROONED has no animal sidekicks.)

Here’s the official blurb:

Addy Tryndall is a fresh graduate from a highly respected engineering college in the Sectors, on her way to a plum job on the Nebula Zephyr cruise ship. She knows she’ll be on probation but she’s determined to succeed and nothing is going to distract her.

Excerpt:

Ensign Addy Tryndall, Engine Room Apprentice, clutched her rucksack, smoothed her official CLC Lines navy blue tunic and got up from the bench where she’d been waiting in the Obimeron Two spaceport for hours, to catch her shuttle to the Nebula Zephyr. The ship was her new home and her first professional job and she sent the Lords of Space a small prayer for the next few months to go well. The berth on this interstellar cruise liner was much coveted and she’d graduated at the top of her class, thereby winning the opportunity but now it was all up to her. She headed toward the crew shuttle bay, hoping to see the craft set down. Of course the gargantuan liner herself never left orbit when arriving at a port but Addy was eager to know everything about her new environment. The smallest detail was important.

She’d learned the adage during her years of schooling and attributed her academic success to being extremely focused and detail-oriented, among other attributes.

As she walked toward the gate, fumbling for her pass to gain access, she became aware of a small crowd of people ahead of her. There was an excited buzz and an air of expectancy, as if they were waiting for someone and she wondered if they were anticipating the arrival of a celebrity. The Nebula Zephyr was renowned for the high quality of its passenger experience as well as for the caliber of the people who chose to travel on her. Addy craned her neck seeking to identify who the excitement might be for but then laughed at herself. I wouldn’t know who the person was anyway. Her classmates at the Propulsion & Engineering Academy had teased her endlessly for being so reclusive and out of touch with anything in popular culture.

Addy passed a robo kiosk selling feelgoods and snacks and gasped as a man stepped out from his position slightly behind the unit, grabbing her by the arm. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said, speaking quickly, right into her ear. “I mean you no harm. I need a favor. You’re on the crew?”

She stared at him, not quite ready to scream and make a fuss yet—Addy avoided becoming the center of all eyes whenever possible. He was tall and scruffy around the edges, and had a battered leather satchel and an oddly shaped instrument case waiting in the spot where he’d been lurking. Under the beard and brown hair caught back in a messy braid, he was handsome and his eyes were breathtakingly blue. She blinked, mesmerized because she’d never seen anyone with such gorgeous eyes.

He glanced past her to the crowd milling around close to the gates and clenched his jaw. “Listen, miss, I’m a passenger—I can show you my ticket if you like—but I need help getting on board without a lot of undue attention. If you’ll walk with me and pretend to be my girlfriend for ten minutes, get me inside the crew shuttle, I’ll buy you the best dinner available on board the Nebula Zephyr tomorrow night. Deal?”

“Oh,” she said, understanding dawning. Addy studied the noisy hubbub nearby. “All of them are waiting for you?” He didn’t look like a celebrity other than when it came to his beautiful eyes. Maybe he’s a famous criminal. Either way he’s a passenger and customer service is our line’s hallmark. The principle had been drummed into her during the online orientation holo class. As an engine room specialist she hadn’t expected to have anything to do with the passengers. Flustered, she said, “I guess that’d be okay but you probably should show me your boarding pass first. I can’t let a pirate or a mobster on board.” As if she’d recognize such a person but Addy consoled herself asking for a pass was an official act and if he couldn’t produce one, she’d terminate this interaction, gorgeous eyes or not.

With a frown, as if he hadn’t meant his offer to locate the pass, he pulled her further into the tiny bit of privacy the vending machine created and rummaged in his satchel while she waited. He flashed the pass at her with a resigned expression on his face.

“Ryder McRhodes,” she read. The name had absolutely no meaning to her but the pass seemed genuine and the holo stamp flickered authentically. “All right, come with me then. I can’t guarantee the shuttle pilot will let you on board but at least we can get past the people you want to avoid.”

He kissed her cheek exuberantly. “You’re an angel.” He grabbed the satchel and the instrument case, slinging it across his back and put his other arm around her waist, drawing her close. “I owe you.”

They walked together as if they actually were a couple and Addy was acutely conscious of his muscular body close to hers. He smelled like clean fresh citrus, underlaid with a darker spice and the mere thought surprised Addy, who wasn’t used to thinking in such sensory terms. She liked the sensation of being pressed close to him and she loved not being alone. All of which was confusing. This person was a total stranger and he was taking liberties in the way he held her so shouldn’t she be outraged? Indignant?

But her body was having a completely different reaction and the unaccustomed feelings were distracting.

They’d walked past the bulk of the raucous crowd with no problem but one man split off and accosted them. “Are you Ryder McRhodes?” he asked her companion.

“Naw, man, although I’m flattered.” As he lied, the passenger laughed as if he was without a single care in the world. He hugged Addy closer and said, “Just trying to get back to my ship on time with my girl here, after a day sightseeing.” He lifted Addy’s badge, which was hanging on a lanyard around her neck and flashed it. “See? We’re crew.”

“Engineering,” she said with the conviction of truth. Although she was puzzled by the whole encounter, Addy smiled and kept walking as Ryder did and they went through the gate to the restricted crew only area with no problem.  The man heaved a huge sigh.

“And we’re golden now,” he said. “I can’t thank you enough.”

“No problem, sir. The CLC Line prioritizes passenger comfort and enjoyment,” she said. Her head buzzed with questions but she was reluctant to ask any of them. “I’m not too pleased the gate isn’t better tended though. You shouldn’t be able to simply walk through with me since you aren’t a crew member.”

He laughed, gave her another side hug and stepped away but only a short distance. “Mind if I ride up to the ship with you?”

She checked out the crowd of what she now guessed were reporters. “Afraid there’ll be more of them on the ship? I’m sure the captain wouldn’t allow it.”

Chuckling as if she’d made a joke, he said, “Not at all. I was lucky enough to find a pretty girl at the end of my journey and I’d like to continue to get to know you better. After all, we’ll be having dinner together tomorrow night, right?”

Confused again, Addy stared at him. “Dinner?”

“The price for getting me past the scum out there,” he said with a raised eyebrow. “We have a dinner date.”

SFR Brigade Presents Star Cruise Songbird #SciFi Rock Star Romance

SFRB ShowcaseOnce a month the SFR Brigade does a blog hop where authors share excerpts, cover reveals or other fun posts related to their scifi romances. Check here for the list of all the participants this month.

We have about a week left (through Veterans Day) to make donations to Hero Dogs, Inc., on royalties from our USA Today Best Selling anthology EMBRACE THE ROMANCE PETS IN SPACE 2, where my novella Star Cruise: Songbird can be found. So it’s not too late to get your copy! (Buy links below the blurb.) This excellent charity supplies service dogs to veterans.

In my story, the rock star comes from a planet with songs that are sung continuously for a thousand years. Here’s how she explains them to Grant, the hero…(I gave a bit more explanation for what prompted me to develop these on Diane Burton’s blog last month)

The excerpt:

“What’s the deal with these songs? Do generations of people really sing the same tune night and day for a thousand years?”

She nodded. “Sometimes it’s the same song but more often there will be new verses being written daily or weekly, and given to the choirs and soloists. The musical variety depends on the funding and the purpose for the song. But the music never stops, not for anything. There’s a story once of a huge fire and the choir at that time moved outside and continued singing while the building fell. Anyone can commission a thousand year song although as you can imagine it takes massive resources, so typically only the most elite families or temples will do so. I have heard of villages putting all their resources into it, but the village was long gone and forgotten by the time the song concluded.”

“A thousand years? People actually sign up to sing the same song for their entire lives, and never hear the final notes? Their children never heard the final notes? Why?”

She shrugged. “Why do human beings do anything? Why did the people from Terra venture out in their generation ships before the hyperspeed drives were invented? The songs are a part of the Calillia religion. Legend says they bring the blessings of the gods upon the planet and the people. In fact, it was gods who started the first songs, millennia ago. If you believe in myths.” She gave him a shrewd glance. “Nowadays much of the planet’s economy is based on the songs and supporting the needs of the singers.”

Pulling him with her, Karissa ducked into the back of a large song temple, where the choir he’d heard was faithfully singing the chorus and refrain of their life’s work.

“See this?” Karissa pointed at an elaborate, slow moving device beside the door. “This was the style of chronograph when the song started. It’s measuring how long they’ve been singing, and how much time is left.”

“How long?”

She eyed the device. “Eight hundred years, give or take a decade or two.”

The Story Behind the Story: Why I Wrote My #Scifi Rock Star Romance

pets2In case you haven’t heard me making lots of noise and throwing confetti, Embrace the Romance: Pets In Space 2 made the USA Today Best Seller List this week!

I thought it would be a good time to re-blog this post I wrote for my co-organizer on the anthology, Pauline B Jones, about why I wrote this particular story. Pauline loves to have authors come visit and spill the beans on the stories behind the story. I’ll give you the beginning of the post here and then you can jump over and read the rest on Pauline’s blog.

Here’s how I began the post:

“It’s always such a pleasure to visit your blog and explain the influences that contributed to how I wrote a newly released book or story! In fact, this process is so much fun I sometimes find myself thinking while writing a book, “Oh, I’ll have to tell Pauline about this.”

I’ve always wanted to write a rock star romance because I LOVE the genre but if I sit down to write anything, it inevitably becomes science fiction. So when you and I decided to do Pets In Space 2, I thought, here’s my chance to involve a rock star. Among my favorites are Nalini Singh’s Rock Kiss series, J T Geissinger, Liora Blake…plus movies such as “The Bodyguard” and “Beyond the Lights”.  I had also recently read that there are cruises nowadays where bands are featured and do concerts and fan events during the cruise. So that part of the story worked fine if I set this Pets In Space story on board my interstellar luxury cruise liner, the Nebula Dream.

The next question was who would the hero be? I love to write Sectors Special Forces heroes, or recently retired service members from that branch, so I decided Grant would fall into that category and be a security officer on the ship. In that job assignment, it was logical that he’d cross paths with a high profile passenger like a rock star.

As far as a pet….”(and now you can find the rest  of the post here, including an excerpt: http://www.paulinebjones.com/why-star-cruise-songbird  )

Write You Into a Song Weekend Writing Warriors

Warriors logo revisedHere’s the link to the Weekend Writing Warriors central page, so you can visit all the participants sharing excerpts today…a fun way to sample new books and find new authors! (Also welcome to the Sunday Snippet visitors!)

The snippet is from my new novella Star Cruise: Songbird, from the EMBRACE THE ROMANCE: PETS IN SPACE 2 anthology, which released on October 10th.

This will be the final snippet I’ll share from the novella. Grant has taken Karissa the singer to the security office while they wait for an unruly crowd of fans to disperse. Grant has been checking the wall chrono anxiously and Karissa asked if she was keeping him from a date…

The excerpt:

Reluctantly he said, “Not a date. I have a—a pet, who requires exercise.”

“A pet on board the ship? I never expected that answer.  So Fido needs a walk, does he? Let’s go—I could use some exercise.”

“It’s not that simple,” he said.

“Is the pet exercising area open to passengers?”

“Not the one I use.” He admitted. “But—”

“This office is boring,” she said, “Now I’m not a Socialite who’d probably die of boredom if you kept me here, but you can’t dangle a chance to take a pet for its walk in front of me and then yank it away. Too cruel, Officer Barton – be mean to me and I might have to write you into a song.”

pets2The story:

Grant Barton, a Security Officer on the Nebula Zephyr, is less than thrilled with his current assignment to guard an Interstellar singing sensation while she’s on board the ship. It doesn’t help that he and his military war bird Valkyr are dealing with their recent separation from the Sectors Special Forces and uncertainty over their future, with their own planet in ruins.

Karissa Dawnstar is on top of the charts and seemingly has it all – talent, fame, fortune and devoted fans, but behind her brave smile and upbeat lyrics she hides an aching heart. When a publicity stunt goes wrong, Karissa finds herself in the arms of the security officer assigned to protect her – and discovers a mutual attraction she can’t ignore.

Trouble continues to plague the pair, driving a wedge between them and leaving Grant certain that Karissa is in more danger than she realizes, from overzealous fans and her own management. Grant is determined to protect Karissa whether she wants his help or not. Can he discover the truth behind what’s going on before he loses Karissa or is there someone else plotting to keep them apart – permanently?

Keeping You From Something Weekend Writing Warriors

Here’s the link to the Weekend Writing Warriors central page, so you can visit all the participants sharing excerpts today…a fun way to sample new books and find new authors! (Also welcome to the Sunday Snippet visitors!)

The snippet is from my new novella Star Cruise: Songbird, which is coming out in the EMBRACE THE ROMANCE: PETS IN SPACE 2 anthology on October 10th (but can be pre-ordered). Only a few more days!!! (Can you tell I’m excited?)

I’ve skipped ahead a bit from last week’s excerpt. Grant has taken Karissa to his boss’s office to wait until the coast is clear to get her safely back to her own cabin. The excerpt is edited a bit to fit the rules here.

The excerpt:

Still holding her drink, she rose and made a slow tour of the office, examining the few knickknacks and holos on display. Over her shoulder, she said, “You’re not a fan, I gather?”

“Fan?”

“Of my music,” she laughed, “I must sound conceited but most people would be thrilled to have a one on one session with me – you haven’t even asked for an autograph.”

“I’m sure your music is wonderful. I’ve been downrange for the last few years so I’m not up on popular culture,” He checked the time again and looked up to see her frowning at him.  “Means I’ve been outside the Sectors, in places I can’t talk about.”

She nodded, “Am I making you nervous? Or am I keeping you from something, a date maybe?” Karissa pointed at the shiptime indicator on the wall, “You keep checking.”

We’ll find out what Grant is anxious about in the next excerpt. Or if you buy the book, you can read the entire novella on the 10th. I’ll probably only do one more excerpt from this book after it’s been released and then move on to my next planned new release, which is an ancient Egyptian paranormal romance. It’s been too long since I wrote one of those!

pets2LargeThe story:

SFR Brigade Presents Star Cruise Songbird Rock Concert

SFRB ShowcaseOnce a month the SFR Brigade does a blog hop where authors share excerpts, cover reveals or other fun posts related to their scifi romances. Check here for the list of all the participants this month.

We’re about five days away from the release of Embrace the Romance: Pets in Space 2, so I thought I’d share an excerpt from my novella in the anthology, STAR CRUISE: SONGBIRD. The story blurb and more about the anthology itself  are below the excerpt! We’re doing pre-orders this time…

pets2LargeThe excerpt:

When the singer emerged from the room where she’d been getting ready, he was astounded. She looked as if she’d stepped straight from a trideo, her sexy costume elaborate and glittering in the lights, her multicolored hair caught up in coils by all manner of elaborate, bejeweled accessories. Even he could tell her shoes were works of art, with heels designed to resemble stacked planets, standing six inches high. She smiled, obviously enjoying his reaction. “Well?”

Pirouetting on those absurd heels, she laughed and held out her hand. “Escort me,” she said like a queen.

He did so, surrounded by her team, including the backup singers and the six dancers, all of whom joined Karissa when she reached the backstage area. Gently she let go of Grant’s arm and stepped away, gathering her team around her for a pep talk. He stayed alert, watching everyone else in the area, ready to challenge anyone acting suspicious.

The show was already going on at full volume. Karissa’s was the final set of the evening and when she ran onstage, her dancers bouncing and doing acrobatics around her, the roar was astounding. Grant stood in the wings, as close to the stage as he could, and watched the performance. Karissa strutted, she danced, she teased, she brought a child on stage for a brief chat, she sang full throated. The crowd loved it all. He had a hard time keeping his eye on the audience, watching for problems, because she was so riveting.

“First time at a show?” asked an older woman standing next to him. “This is nothing compared to what she’ll do at the big concert on Calillia next week. There’ll be multiple costume changes and aerial components. And maybe some new songs, although she’s been quiet about that. She doesn’t want Ted getting the rights to any more of her stuff if she can help it. Things are really sour between them now.” She laughed self-consciously and held out her hand. “I’m  Desdusan, by the way, her chief makeup artist. Chief busybody too. I try to look out for her as much as I can. Been with Karissa for nine years, ever since she hit the bigtime with ‘Twisted Comets’. She’ll probably sing that for the encore.”

“I hate to admit it but I’ve never heard her music before—it’s all new to me,” he said as they shook.

The woman did a double take. “Really? You’re probably the only person in the Sectors who hasn’t heard at least one Karissa song.”

“I have now,” he pointed out, annoyed to feel so defensive

As expected, Karissa left the stage briefly at the end of her set and returned to deafening applause to sing the encore. Then she waved to the crowd and danced off. Grant followed her as Desdusan gave her a bottle of water and the two women headed for the dressing room. “Did you like it?” Karissa asked him over her shoulder.

“Full of energy and feeling,” he said. “Clearly I missed a lot while I was on active duty.”
