As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL).
He’s the Bone Crusher. A man in a mask. His face is hidden alongside his intentions. He doesn’t do things for free…or to be nice. So just how did Nia end up stuck on a ship with him by her side? She’d wanted adventure, but Ka’Cit Urgmental was SO. MUCH. MORE. It’s obvious he’s only come to help her get back to the Sanctuary. That’s all. BUT…when he starts looking at her as if she’s meant to be in his arms, in his bed…his, it soon becomes clear that things aren’t that simple. That mask he wears? His face isn’t the only thing it hides. It’s a metal shield veiling more than she could have ever imagined…Whether what’s underneath will break them apart or pull them together, that is another question.

Crulden the Ruiner is the name of a fierce gladiator who’s broken the rules…and broken anyone that approaches. It’s *my* name. They want me to play in their games. They want me to win battles for them. Well, I know what I want in return. I want her. And I don’t care who I have to destroy to get her. But Mina doesn’t want to be owned…and certainly not by one as terrible as me. How does a bad guy woo the girl when all he knows is death and destruction?
I’ll do whatever it takes to destroy the Bride Games. A year ago, I did the unthinkable. I helped a woman running from the Alien Bride Lottery. I spent three months in a federal prison for it, too. As soon as I got out, a secret organization recruited me. Our goal is to end the Bride Lottery program forever. So when my name is drawn in the Lottery this year, I know it’s a setup. But my friends in the organization insist it’s for the best, because now I can feed them information from inside the Bride Games. But when I arrive on Station 21, I realize there’s even more to this setup than I knew. Because the first person I meet is that green alien bastard who turned me in. Worse, he’s one of the grooms in the Bride Games. If he thinks he can make up for all the damage he’s done, he’s in for a surprise. Because I’m going to do whatever it takes to bring down this entire system.

Sallon Lee is quiet, shy, and has no friends. They have no idea what they want for their future on the space station in which they live. But they do know one thing: they have a huge crush on Ignis. The problem is, Ignis is so cool and popular, and has no idea who Sal is. Sal has no chance with him. Then a chance encounter throws the two of them together, and Sal finds themself forming a fast friendship with Ignis, thinking about their future, and other firsts. Without Grr,—I didn’t name him, okay?—I’d have been a goner. And his furry abs? Just a bonus. (A nice one.) First, giant alien lizard-guys abduct me. Then they leave me alone in a cell next to Grr. Then the force-field between us dies. So now it’s just me and Grr. Sure, he’s beat up and pissed off with claws and fangs (I kind of like the fangs). And he growls a lot. Anyone would in our situation. But hey, if you’re going to escape an alien prison ship and get chased across a planet where half the creatures you meet try to eat you, it’s good to have seven-feet of Grr at your side. He’s also easy on the eyes. Abs-on-abs, biceps-on-biceps, and let’s say all the right bulges in all the right places. And he likes ear rubs. And other rubs. And rubbing me. (I like that too.) The more time I spend with Grr, the more I think getting abducted by aliens wasn’t such a bad thing. I just hope the lizard-guys don’t kill us before Grr can call in the big guns. The ones that aren’t furry. (Seriously, I’m not talking about the St. Bernard sized hamster. We just met him.)
VS Note: A Murderbot short story!!! There’s no blurb but from reviews I gleaned it falls between Exit Strategy and Network Effect and is from Dr. Mensah’s POV. So if you’ve been reading the series it might appeal. I one clicked it so fast LOL…from APR 21. I just saw it. Not a romance. Update: Read it and it is VERY very short. Mostly Dr. Mensah.
VS note: What’s not to like? Navy SEALs ‘enhanced’ in a secret project which they of course escaped from once they knew what was going on. I was intrigued and bought book one to read. Now I’m on book two. I’m enjoying them but it’s pretty much military romantic suspense with a very thin veneer of the scifi.

For the last ten years, I thought I was nothing special. I was just another priestess in the Temple of Temptation. One of many. Little did I know that my god has plans for me. He intends to make me powerful. But what I will become is up to me. For centuries, things here have always been done the same way – and the gods are now paying for it. Somehow, I’m expected to revive the faith. I’m their last hope, but no one is quite sure how I’m supposed to do that. That means I’m making this up as I go. My god is begging me to become something new. My temple wants me to respect traditions. My instructors want to force me to follow their rules. I just want to save my god. With my three men, I know I’ll figure it out. That is not the same as this being easy, though. Even worse, being “special” makes those around me jealous, and giving in to temptation is a part of our nature. When my guardian’s family gets involved, things get infinitely more complicated. The temple wants to break me. My success or failure depends on the path I choose. I just hope I find the right one.

While gathering a collection of vintage book cover paintings for a special event in her quaint Rhode Island bookshop, Penelope discovers a spooky portrait of a beautiful woman, one who supposedly went mad, according to town gossip. Seymour, the local mailman, falls in love with the haunting image and buys the picture, refusing to part with it, even as fatal accidents befall those around it. Is the canvas cursed? Or is something more sinister at work? For answers, Pen turns to an otherworldly source: Jack Shepard, PI. Back in the 1940s, Jack cracked a case of a killer cover artist, and (to Pen’s relief) his spirit is willing to help her solve this mystery, even if he and his license did expire decades ago.
Once upon a time, a brother and sister were led away into the depths of the forest. And now, perhaps, also a niece that no one has heard of before, lately arrived from Vienna to wreak havoc on poor Gretel’s nerves and heart.

Princess in name only, Eira Lempta has a lot on her plate. As council to the Light Court monarch, she’s formidable on the Fae stage of politics, and has been instrumental in the furthering of relations and cooperation between the two different courts, and the numerous factions. The only child to the head of the Ice Court, she is expected to carry on the legacy of the family and court, even if she’s not going to run it. My days as a pawn in this war are over. I’m taking over as queen on this board, and in my version of the game, everyone bows to the queen. Even Constantine Nacht. He thinks he’s clever by roping me into these ascension trials, all meant to kill me and my mates. But I’m going to prove him wrong.
We’re stronger than he thinks. And we’re going to make him bleed. Earth Fae are all about life.
Midnight Fae prefer death. I’m a mixture of both. So let’s see what happens when life marries death, shall we? Hand over my crown, Constantine. It’s time for you to kneel for your queen.
It was time to chase my mate. After a few lonely years of modeling, babysitting for my friends, and enough therapy to fix a serial killer, I was ready to reclaim my mate. I boxed up my sexy, expensive clothes and threw them in storage. I quit the job that put up a massive wall between us. I chopped the hair that made me millions. Dressed in my old sweatshirts and jeans that would remind my mate of the girl I was when he fell in love with me, I flew across the country to win back my man but got more than I bargained for. A pack falling to pieces. My mate, holding it together. If I wanted Gunner, I would have to do more than give up my old life; I would have to adopt an entirely new one.
Life is getting ever more complicated as I continue to collect mates. Fate may have stopped us from finding the oracle before, but nothing is going to get in our way now. I keep getting visions telling me that time is running out. The oracle is the only one who can give us the answers we need and this time we know where to look… sort of. There is no choice but to go deeper into Shadow Forest. We know the oracle is there somewhere, but every second we spend on Shadow Forest land means risking our lives. If I’m lucky I’ll find my last mate and the oracle before the darkness I see in my visions swallows the world whole. The only problem is I’ve never been very lucky.
We beat the City’s strongest battle mages, but the invasion was only a distraction. While we fought his lackeys, King Emil had his eye on a bigger prize: the Fae Realm. He wants immortality, and he’s going to destroy the universe to get it. We’re out of time and the stakes are impossibly high. If I want my new babies to live in a world of dragons, I have to face the cruel king on his own playing field.
If my mates and I don’t stop him, the rifts King Emil is creating will destroy everything. It’s time to stare down the void.
A curse to break. A sister to find. A quadrant to reclaim. After the initial shock of being soul seared to a stranger, Creed and I realize the universe might know what it’s doing afterall. As the two realms unite and initial relationships are made, the news of our mating breeds more than salacious curiosity throughout Dornte—it ignites hope. The citizens want safety. And freedom. And the restoration of the royal family. With the rule of the usurper queen threatened, Laryssa’s claws come out and her most effective weapons against Creed are: threatening my life, tormenting his sister, and empowering the blood witch to torture him with the dark beast he’s been cursed with. But Creed isn’t alone in his fight anymore. Now he has us.
When it was declared the next alpha needs to have a wife, I knew I was screwed. How is a 47-year-old playboy like me ever going to settle down? All that changed the day TJ crashed back into my life. We struck a deal of convenience. A fake marriage pact. Just a temporary arrangement with absolutely no s*x. The one problem? I never stopped wanting her.
An outcast maiden. A fae prince. A match bound by fate. When outcast cobbler Rhianne braves the enchanted wood to find her fated love, absolutely everything that could go wrong does. The Matchweaver witch’s magical loom reveals Rhianne is fated for the most powerful fae prince in history. Sounds great to Rhianne, but the Matchweaver has big plans for the prince, and they don’t involve a lowly cobbler. The Matchweaver rages at the match, and her fit angers the ancients who crafted it. The ancients present a magical wand to Rhianne, setting the young woman on the path to raise a new Matchweaver. The Matchweaver casts a deadly darkness across the kingdom, Rhianne has days to raise the new Matchweaver or everyone in Lore will die. Although horrified at the darkness unspooling across the land, Prince Werian is rather delighted at the turn of events. He was meant for adventure such as this and doesn’t mind dodging dangerous spells. What he isn’t prepared for is the sacrifice he’ll have to make to save the kingdom. This quest isn’t what Rhianne and Werian believe it to be, and if they don’t figure out how to rescue themselves and Lore, it won’t only be a legendary love lost, the entire kingdom will disappear into the void.
“Whatever you do, always give 100% – unless you’re donating blood.” My new role is not to be taken lightly, but I don’t even know where the hell to start. I’ve had to learn to be vulnerable enough to admit when I need help from those that I trust, and right now…I need all the help I can get in the oncoming war. I must gather the Queen’s and their armies from all of the realms and pray that we can formulate a plan to destroy Erebus and his dark army for good. I wasn’t ready for this, but I’ll be damned if I don’t give it my all. There have been too many sacrifices and lives lost, so I could get to this point. Their deaths will not be in vain. We will be victorious.
Everyone knows about the Fae of the forest—gorgeous, sinful, deadly. When I trespass into their magical world, I need more than my sharp tongue to survive. Especially against the ruler of the woodland. Puck is a smooth-talking rogue with a cruel smirk that sets me aflame in more ways than one. And because the Fae bastard likes to play with his captives, he gives me two choices: either hunt or be hunted. Now I’m trapped in a dangerous game of hide and seek, lost in this dark, seductive realm where Faeries wield blades and whisper lustful temptations from the shadows. He’s the predator. I’m the prey. But I’m not submitting without a fight. I refuse to be Puck’s toy. If my rakish enemy wants to hunt me, I’ll hunt him back and beat him at his own treacherous game. Yet I can’t resist the wicked desire in his eyes, nor his heated touch and devious kiss. And if I’m not careful, he’ll crush my very soul.
Till a mating link do us part. That was rule #1 of the arrangement I struck up with my Alpha a few weeks after he arrived in Beaver Creek to solve a pack murder. Liam Kolane and I would have exclusive fun until my wolf clicked with its true mate or until I found a male keen on long-term, since Liam had zero interest in forever. Well, he and I crashed and burned long before another male came along, because I broke our one and only other commandment: I got attached. And not only to my scarred and aloof Alpha but also to his sweet nine-month-old son. The problem with breaking up with your Alpha? You remain his shifter, so you’re stuck seeing him every day. Another problem . . . some deviants presume he likes you enough to save you. Good thing I have four older brothers who taught me to save myself.
The Human Mate – On the evening of our twentieth wedding anniversary, my husband left me.
With no explanation, he walked out the door. The next day, my only child moved away to start college
At thirty-eight years old, I had nothing left. I’d lived my life for my son, and my husband. So I had to start over. After weeks of therapy, I determined I was better off alone. I vowed to never date again
To escape my dull life, I took off on an adventure. I taught myself to hike, camp, and take photos of nature. Then I had a run in with a grizzly bear. The Midlife MC Dragon Shifter – I come from an ancient line of dragons. We have been granted unnatural long lives, but I’m still single. And for good reason. My dragon shifter father was an alcoholic
He was a miserable monster who beat my human mother. When I was finally old enough to protect her, she died. I learned a lesson — marriage isn’t worth the risk. Especially not between a human and a shifter. So I left the human world behind for good. I started a motorcycle club…(more blurb on ebook seller page…)

Killian knows his time is up. Whether Morrigan kills him or his curse does, he’s been more than ready to die for centuries and just needs to wait it out. That is until a hunter turns up and makes a deal with him; she’ll free him from Morrigan’s prison if he willingly returns to Ireland to die at the hand of her mysterious client. At this point, he has nothing to lose, and anything is better than Morrigan.
Bron Ironwood comes from a family of hunters. Her ancestor almost killed the Night Prince centuries ago, and in turn, he promised to destroy the entire Ironwood line. If she manages to get Killian back to Ireland, not only will she be rich, she’ll be protecting her sisters from his wrath forever. Two birds, one stone. What could possibly go wrong? Neither one will be prepared for the mating bond that’s determined to mess with all of their plans. Not only will they have to stay out of Morrigan’s grasp, but they will also have to unite hunters and the creatures they are trained to hate if they have any hope of keeping Morrigan from destroying Ireland.
At a fateful New Year’s Eve party, Georgina Maverick, a little bit drunk, a lot mired in guilt from her tortured past, trips and falls off a rooftop, tumbling ten stories to her almost death. Little does George know, her friend and co-worker, Dexter Bridger, the man she discovers also happens to be her guardian angel, is on the case. He saves her from landing toe up in the mortuary, but he opens an entire can of worms when he nicks her shoulder and turns George into an angel, too. With the help of the OOPS ladies and some divine intervention from Dex, George is learning how to be a guardian angel in the hope she can earn her permanent wings. But it ain’t easy when your newbie wings are strap-on (you read that right), and your angelic glow nearly fries the eyeballs right out of the head of your new cranky, vampire friend. But worse? All the secrets that haunt both George and Dex are coming home to roost. For instance, how did Dex become a guardian angel anyway, and why doesn’t he have his permanent wings after all this time? And for the love of all that’s good looking, why is he so stupid cute? How can a girl focus on getting it together with that kind of distraction? Yet for George, the questions cut far deeper. Why is it so hard to overcome her brutal past and find the thing she’s always wanted—peace of mind and acceptance? And how the heck is she supposed to be someone’s guardian angel and guide them to emotional safety when her own life is such a wreck? Worst of all? Who’s been lurking in the shadows trying to steal George’s wings? Because if someone gets their hands on her wings, guess what? She loses her soul. Forever.
VS: Working through my alien empath backlist, next up is TWO AGAINST THE STARS. I enjoyed the challenge of writing a woman on the run. I also drew on some personal history to write the section at the remote cabin, because my grandfather built a wonderful cabin in the woods near where I grew up. I sort of transplanted my memories to this alien planet (although we never had any excitement like the events in the book).
The blurb: Empathic priestess Carialle has escaped the evil Amarotu Combine, but she’s hardly out of danger. Not when she risks everything to rescue a drugged man from a crooked veterans’ clinic. By lulling the clinic staff to sleep, she reveals her powers. And once again, criminals are after her and her rescuer.
Marcus Valerian, a wounded Special Forces veteran, never expected to have his life threatened by the clinic that’s supposed to help ex-soldiers like him. But when he wakes from a drugged state to find a lovely woman urging him to run–he does. In his family’s remote fishing cabin, he suffers the agony of withdrawal, soothed only by her powers.
In their idyllic hideaway, the two also discover a nova-hot attraction flaring. But can they stay alive long enough for it to become more? Not if the Combine has anything to say–they are not giving up until Marcus is dead and Carialle is their weapon
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
