As always, I recommend sampling before you buy! I have not read most of the new releases listed (although I always end up one-clicking a bunch as I prepare these posts LOL).
When I distracted the security forces in Teevor so my friends could escape, I expected to be reunited with them a few hours later. I should’ve known my opportunist boss would use my fast hands and predilection for deception to achieve his nefarious goals. But there’s one element he didn’t factor into his plans. That element is huge, lethal, and his hands may even be faster than mine. My future has only ever held three concrete walls and a row of steel bars. Love isn’t a possibility for someone like me, and the sexy, overprotective Thesian is a distraction I can’t afford. But the higher I build the reinforced walls around my heart, the higher Bavix will climb over those walls in the biggest heist imaginable. Unless I teach him that my father had it right. There’s no honor amongst thieves. And there’s no love either.
Take nothing at face value. That’s Geneva Walker’s motto in life. But when seven feet of devilishly handsome male complete with horns and a tail strolls into the church where she works as a secretary—even a hardcore nonbeliever would jump to conclusions. Extraterrestrial Inferno has searched in vain for his genmate, the one woman his Luciferan DNA has chosen for him. When he locates her in the church of a small Idaho town, the last thing he expects is for her to throw him out as though he was Satan himself. How can he prove to the beautiful skeptic they are meant for each other when he can’t even convince her he’s an alien?
When alien pirates stole me from Earth years ago, the trauma of my abduction wiped away my memories. I can’t remember who I was before I was taken. Can’t recall anything from my previous life. All I know is that I’m not going to let myself be held captive again. The blue-skinned warriors I’m now living with seem different than the pirates who abducted me, but every alien I’ve ever known has tried to hurt me eventually. So when I see my chance to sneak away from the Voxeran village, I take it. I’d rather face the dangers of Nuthora on my own than risk losing my freedom again. There’s one thing I didn’t count on, though. Bohrir. The massive Voxeran who carried me away from Gornok’s lair follows me into the woods—but instead of dragging me back to the village as I expect him to, he tells me there’s only one thing he wants. To keep me safe. Even if he has to leave his people behind to do it.
VS Note: Not a romance but a scifi release of note. Sounds good! Put it on my TBR List.
Literature professor Dr. Addie Cox is living a happy, if sheltered, life in her ivory tower when Harris Lang, the famously eccentric billionaire tech genius, offers her an unusual job. He wants her to guide a mercenary strike team sent to infiltrate his island retreat off the northwest coast of the United States. Addie is puzzled by her role on the mission until she understands what Lang has built: Insula Mirabilis, an isolated resort where tourists will one day pay big bucks for a convincing, high-tech-powered fantasy-world experience, complete with dragons, unicorns, and, yes, magic. Unfortunately, one of the island’s employees has gone rogue and activated an invisible force shield that has cut off all outside communication. A Coast Guard cutter attempting to pass through the shield has been destroyed. Suspicion rests on Dominic Brand, the project’s head designer— and Addie Cox’s ex-boyfriend. Lang has tasked Addie and the mercenary team with taking back control of the island at any cost. But Addie is wrestling demons of her own—and not the fantastical kind. Now, she must navigate the deadly traps of Insula Mirabilis as well as her own past trauma. And no d20, however lucky, can help Addie make this saving throw.
Someone pulled a Jurassic with my genes. I am the result of an experiment—human spliced with dinosaur—or so I assumed growing up. According to my parents, they rescued me from a lab when I was just a roly-poly egg. All my life I’ve hidden what I am because my parents told me I had to, but when they die, my world is blown apart. Which is when I meet Urion. Tall, dark, and arrogant, he invades my dreams and then ignites my world. I’m trying to protect my heart, but he makes me want something a misfit can’t have. A happily ever after. But what if there were a place where we could be together? Like a kingdom ruled by an ex-stripper.
VS Note: This released last week but they had a problem not of their own making with going live on time, lost all their pre-orders etc., so I offered to mention it again this week also.

EVE – I didn’t claw my way up the corporate ladder by being kind, generous or caring. I made a million before lunch and lunch is for wimps. My rivals? They can kiss my designer heels. What I thought was a practical joke is rapidly becoming a nightmare. The plane I don’t remember getting on? It crash-landed. The dead man I found? He claims he’s an alien species and he says I’m not on Earth anymore. If my ‘alien’ would only stop staring at the bottom of a bottle long enough to help me. I’ve still got time to get back home and rescue the deal of the century. And if he doesn’t, well, I’ll do what I always do. Solve my own problems. JAK – I came to this planet for solitude. To lick my wounds and to forget all about the Empire. Without my arm, I’m only half the Haalux warrior I once was. The last thing I need is to be pushed around by an entitled human female who thinks she some sort of princess. She couldn’t care for a broken warrior like me. No one would, and I need to stop torturing myself that she might look in my direction with anything other than pity. She can go off on her own if she wants. If she doesn’t need me, I don’t need her. I stopped being a hero a long time ago. If she thinks I’m going to save her, then she’s wrong. Until I hear her scream.
My girlfriend is out of this world. I can’t say I’ve ever thought I’d be thinking about that in a literal sense instead of figuratively. Oswald – I knew from the start she was different, unsure of what that meant for us. At first. It was love at first Sci fi flick chucked at my head. Okay, so maybe our kismet run-in wasn’t instalove, but you could say we got off to a nose smashing start. Heh. Either way, it didn’t take me very long to realize she was the one for me. Now that my commitment-phobic bum is all in and things are really starting to come together, I’ve just got to get her to tell me whatever it is it feels like she’s not telling me. Rossehmar – I’ve found the male I’m meant to spend the rest of my days with in a Blue Planter of Earth. To say it surprised me is laughable, but I care for my Ozzy, deeply. I would do anything for my human. Even, uh, *cough*, remove any obstacles that may present themselves and risk our love.
There’s absolutely nothing in this galaxy or the next that could keep me from my one. Except, maybe, the truth of the lengths I’d go to in securing our future.
Possessive. Dominant. Controlling. A triad of brutal Aurelians who forsook their oaths to conquer and claim. And if the alien warrior triad is brutal enough to survive… I’m the prize. Sara: Three years. Three years of captivity on this smog-covered planet, the pollution drowning the sun out. The pit-lord Toad displays us like ornaments, keeping us half-starved and weak. I can accept hopelessness for myself. For my little sister, I fight. Three huge, hulking alien beasts built for war stride into the fighting pits. Over seven-foot-tall, with skin carved like marble, they gleam in the murky light. If their hunger was unleashed on me… I’d be broken. They are Aurelians, exuding dominance and cruel nobility. When they stalk into the arena, I get the first surge of hope in three years. Aurelians are honorable, noble protectors, who take care of all those who accept their protection. Then I see the half-filled tattoo on their chest. Fanatics. Alien warriors who went mad with the thought of claiming their Fated Mate, and forsook their oaths to protect the innocent. These three follow the Old Ways. They don’t just want to Bond their Fated Mate. They want to own her body and soul. And if they survive the battle…I’ll be thrown to the three ravenous beasts.
VS Note: Ooh, a dystopian series! I went back and bought book one so we’ll see.

He’ll break my will if he gets a chance. It’ll break my heart if I don’t let him. I don’t want to be owned, but when I’m near him I need to be consumed. Braak – What I want, I own. What I own, I break any way I see fit. And this human female needs to be broken. She’s begging to be, even when she’s fighting me at every turn. She’s so thick, so pure, yet so feisty. Carl Emerson was one of the most contrary people the gods ever stretched hide over. He had it all – a great wife, a nice house, a corner office in a building he owned – but he took it all for granted. And then he turned up dead amid some bizarre circumstances. He’d reported his wife missing while she was standing right beside him, and claimed his grandfather’s watch had been stolen even though it was right there on his wrist. His partner said he wandered around the parking lot of their office building but never came inside. That’s a little nuts even by our standards, so I decide to take a closer look. Why me? Because through an impressively confounded set of circumstances, I set a trunkful of cursed objects loose on the unwitting non-magicals in our town. Now I have to figure out which of the pieces in his collection killed him before somebody else dies and his wife goes to prison. Just another Tuesday in Marauder’s Cove.

If the vampire court thought I’d be less of a threat like this, they were dead wrong. Because now I’m f*cking pissed. They turned me into a monster, bound my brother to the most vicious vampire bitch in the clan, and tore away my last shred of hope. It’s too late to save myself. It’s too late to save Nathan. All that’s left is to make them pay for what they did to us. It doesn’t matter that Connor’s sweet face still makes me want to wrap my arms around him and shield him from all the evil in the world. It doesn’t matter that Rome sees past my armor to a part of me I never meant to show anyone. It doesn’t matter that Bastian’s gray eyes still haunt my dreams. The bloodsuckers evened the playing field when they gave me the same powers they have. And I’m going to use those powers to tear this place down.
Hades is coming for me. But that doesn’t mean he can have me . . .He says he knows me. Who I am. What I am. I’m pretty sure my boss Hayden is on some sort of weird power trip. He’s sexy as hell, but has an arrogance that spells danger. I’m only serving drinks in his seedy strip club until I can afford my own flower shop. I just have to avoid the inexplicable pull between us in the meantime. Then he claims I’m Persephone and he’s Hades, the God of the Underworld. He says I was taken from him and now he’s here to awaken my spirit so he can take me back to the underworld. That his position in the underworld depends on it. Either he’s crazy . . . or I’m a mythical goddess. A queen of the underworld. His Queen. Except if I was his Queen, he needs to do more than seduce me. I’d want him to love me. To Hell and back. No matter how strong the attraction is that burns between us, it’s obvious someone like him isn’t capable of love. And there’s no way I’m going back to the underworld without a fight.
Tora came to the remote country town of Robson Hills to indulge in some fresh air, idyllic scenery, and maybe just a bit of moping about her shattered dreams of being a pro athlete. Instead, she’s having close encounters with UFOs, there’s rogue YouTubers roaming the countryside… and oh, her host is a really hot guy with a habit of wandering around shirtlessly in the rain while rescuing tiny baby lambs. All bull shifter Wyatt wants is to run his animal sanctuary and lead a peaceful country life. But that’s easier said than done when there’s mysterious floating lights, crop circles, and really irritating alien hunters to deal with. On top of all this, his mate has taken up residence in his holiday cabin, and Robson Hills has chosen the worst possible time to stop living up to its tranquil reputation. Together, Tora and Wyatt put their sleuthing skills to the test to uncover the truth behind the mysterious UFOs… and maybe have a close encounter of a very different kind.
Raising a toddler is hard enough, but it’s even harder if you’re a single omega like Ryan. He’s not sure how much longer he can stand being alone, especially when he’s surrounded by happy couples everywhere he goes. Maybe he should take a page from his son’s favorite story, Magic the Unicorn, and make a wish for a happily-ever-after of his own. Enter Ulysses the real life unicorn. A shifter. AKA, a being that shouldn’t even exist, as far as Ryan knows. Not only is Ulysses 100% real, but he’s kind, compassionate, and smoking hot. The best part is that he adores Ryan’s son, Andrew, as if he were his own. Could fairytales be true after all?
Adrien de Guillory may be the heir to the throne of Staria, but no one in court believes that the submissive, meek-minded prince will ever be king. To see those plans through, Adrien embarks on a journey to Mislia, the land of his mother’s ancestors, to seek an answer to controlling his magic of foresight. The one thing Adrien’s visions don’t predict is Isiodore de Mortain, his father’s confidante and the subject of Adrien’s long-standing, deeply embarrassing infatuation. Isiodore intercepts Adrien on his way to Mislia, but it’s too late to turn back—The two of them are now stranded on foreign soil, forced to rely on each other in order to get home in one piece. With Isiodore set on keeping Adrien safe, and Adrien determined to become the most troublesome prince in Starian history, a storm is brewing over Mislia…one that will surely sweep both of them out into uncharted waters.

VS: For my backlist book today I picked HOSTAGE TO THE STARS, which is the sequel to Mission to Mahjundar (but can be read alone). Johnny was a much beloved character in the older book and readers kept asking me for his story. I wanted to write it but I needed a good plot. Then I became fascinated by how our own Special Forces rescues or doesn’t rescue hostages. I think we tend to pretty much figure they go in right away to save someone in peril but sadly not so, for many reasons. That fact became the kernel of the idea for this book and then I really enjoyed giving Johnny his own time to shine and get the girl.
Space travel without Kidnap & Ransom insurance? Not a good idea. University instructor and researcher Sara Bridges can’t afford it, so when pirates board her cruise liner, she’s taken captive along with the mistress of a wealthy man, and brought to a deserted planet. When a military extraction team sent to rescue the mistress refuses to take Sara too, she’s left to the mercies of a retired Special Forces soldier, along as consultant.
Reluctantly reactivated and coerced into signing up for the rescue operation to the planet Farduccir where he once was deployed, Sgt. Johnny Danver just wants to get the job done. But when the team leader leaves one captured woman behind, he breaks away to rescue her himself.
As Johnny and Sara traverse the barren landscape, heading for an abandoned base where they hope to call Sectors Command for help, they find villages destroyed by battle and stripped of all inhabitants. A lone survivor tells a horrific tale of the Sectors’ alien enemy, the Mawreg, returning after being pushed out …
Searching for evidence to give the military, Johnny is captured. He regains consciousness in a Mawreg cage–with Sara next to him. Death is preferable to what the aliens will do to them… And even if they do escape their captors, can they alert the military in time to prevent another invasion of the Sectors?
LINKS TO RECENT NEW RELEASES POSTS from Veronica:
“New” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months. And I may mention ‘special items’.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list by hand every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
Some authors aren’t in KU but still don’t list books with Apple or other platforms. This report is very time consuming to prepare so I’ve always had to limit myself and cannot go and look up every book on all the platforms. If an author gives me their other buy links, I include them here but generally I develop the post on my own, not from author-supplied information. I curate and prepare this post individually every week to help connect readers/books/authors and I have to be very careful not to give it so much time as an activity that I don’t write my own novels! Thanks for the feedback and happy reading!
I check and verify all the buy links at the time I create the post but after that I’m not responsible.
